Music Marketing Manifesto on computer screen with microphone

As you may already know, Registration for Music Marketing Manifesto 4.0 went live a few days ago. Hundreds of musicians have already signed up and the members area is buzzing.

Well, yesterday I held a fairly impromptu LIVE Q & A call to just chat about marketing music the MMM way, and to address the thousands of questions that have come in via email over the last few days about the strategy and the program.

I received quite a few emails from people who were not able to make the live call, and so I thought I’d take the audio from the session and share it in the latest MMM Podcast episode.

To listen to the interview just go to iTunes >> Search “Music Marketing Manifesto” >> and subscribe. The episode should start to download immediately. You can also click any of the following links to find the MMM podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, or Google Play.

You can also listen right here on the site. Just click the play button below.

Hi John. I just watched your Blueprint video. I’m so early in the game that I don’t even have music yet, but have been working to get my home studio together for the purpose of making some money on the side doing some music. Since I have so far to go to create content which I’ll need to sell (we gotta have a product, right?) I’m thinking I must wait to purchase the 4.0 program because there’s a limit to the money back guarantee and access to the resources. Seems like this is something I’ll need to tuck away and revisit once I’ve created an album or two; wouldn’t you agree?

    • John Oszajca says:

      Hi Ron,

Yes, I can completely agree with you here. Because what I’m sharing in the course is a real-world business solution for artists, there will be additional, albeit small expenses that can easily be offset by sales, which of course means you would need to have something to sell.

MMM isn’t going away any time soon, so by all means work to get yourself something that you can market and then perhaps revisit the idea of picking up the course.

Let me know if I can ever help with anything else.

Hi John, this is all very inspiring, thanks! One detail I’m curious about: What form does the Facebook ad usually take for getting people to click through to the squeeze page? Is it an image with some descriptive text, or a video? I assume this is dependent on what Facebook allows you to put in an ad?

    • John Oszajca says:

      Hi Miles,

Glad you enjoyed the podcast. I’ve used all of the above, but the majority of my ads are made up of a single image, a headline, body text, and a link description, along with a “learn more” button. But there are many different types of ads and all can work under the right circumstances.

    Hi John,

We’re a completely new band based in Europe with 4 high-quality tracks on our hands that we planned to release as singles. However, after watching and reading your material, I realized that we hadn’t thought about how we were going to actually make money off our music, and that selling an album is a more cost-effective approach. Which pretty much changes a lot.

What course of action would you recommend, considering that we have zero exposure at the moment? However, we do have some humble marketing budget to start with.

    Thanks in advance!

    • John Oszajca says:

      Hi Eli,

Thanks for your interest. I’d recommend artists take that small budget and put it toward a targeted Facebook ad campaign. That said, you’d definitely want to have your sales funnel in place, so that you can convert that traffic into email subscribers, build the list and give yourself the opportunity to build a relationship with your subscribers, so that you can sell to them effectively.

Let me know if I can ever help with anything else.

  • Hi john trust you are well man!

I signed up to a MMM prior, does this new one deal with FB targeting in depth also and does it update the prior one I bought?

    Thanks for your time

    Derek Solomon

    • John Oszajca says:

      Hi Derek,

Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, MMM 4.0 does deal with Facebook ads/ audience targeting in their modern form, however MMM 4.0 is much more focused on strategy and technical set-up, than on anything too far in depth on FB ads. In other words, traffic is a major part of the MMM 4.0 strategy, but I have a completely separate workshop dedicated to exploring Facebook ads in the kind of depth you seem to be looking for. You can find out more about that here:
      http://musicadsworkshop.com

Also MMM 4.0 is a completely new product, rather than an upgrade of MMM 3.0. MMM 3.0 is still a valid strategy and I do continue to provide support for it.

Let me know if I can ever help with anything else.
