Just to give you an update. About 20 minutes late I finally got the email. But it did not ask me to confirm, which clashes with the fact that you said confirmed opt in was on and that only 13% of people were confirming. So I'm really confused. If confirmed opt in is off, how can there be a low confirmation rate.
I strongly suggest switching to aweber. That plugin is really going to hurt you.

Sorry, John. I forgot that I turned off confirmed opt-in, since it didn't seem to be helping open rates. I am using Mailfit to collect the emails, but deliverability is being handled by Sendinblue (https://www.sendinblue.com). I simply enjoyed handling everything from one website, which is why I set it up that way. But if you think this is the problem, I will give Aweber a try to see if things improve and let you know how it goes.
Hey Derrick, I personally think that it is a problem. I wouldn't personally trust my email delivery to those services. Point in case is the fact that it took 20 minutes to get my download email. That's going to ruin your campaign.

Hi John,
So I made the switch to Aweber and I ran an FB campaign for a week. I'm still seeing some odd results in the funnel with the opt-in turned on. I'm getting subscribers, but most sign ups are still not confirming. Out of a list of 32 signups only five confirmed, so it is maybe a 3% increase since changing providers.
The second issue I am having is that for the ones that have confirmed, no one is opening the second email.
I have not changed audiences so I am not sure why the open rate for email 2 is now zero, when it used to be 25%.
Ho Derrick,
Something is definitely weird with your set up. As you know, I signed up a few weeks ago.
I got the welcome email about 30 minutes late. Then one day later I got the "this involves you" email. Then 6 days later I got the "this involves you email again. Then 3 days later I got the "you're not going to believe this" email.
I also just unsubscribed and went to sign up again at https://deryo.com/music/free-t.....rth-fire3/ and resubscribed again. It took me to a page saying I was all set which didn't require me to opt in. It appeared to be using the same plugin you were using before. It's been 10 minutes and I have still not received the email.
It looks like you have not yet added aweber to the squeeze page.

Thanks for testing that out, John. When I switched to Aweber I created a new squeeze page and I am no longer running ads to the old squeeze page with the Mailfit form, however I did not delete the Mailfit plugin yet, because I still wasn't sure about Aweber. Sorry, I forgot to mention that in my last post.
I did go back over the lessons and reconnect everything to Aweber with the new squeeze page. Here is the new squeeze page that I am using the Aweber form with and running ads to: https://deryo.com/music/free-track-ewf/
I tested it a few times. The confirmation and download emails appear, very quickly. I am now up to 70 signups with only 15 confirmed. I even updated the thank you message to make it clearer what people need to do to confirm.
Ok, cool. I just signed up to test with the new set up and it worked flawlessly.
It's extraordinarily weird to see only 6 out of 32 people confirming. Are you basing that on aweber stats or Facebook conversion stats? If Facebook then you likely just haven't created a new custom conversion goal for the new page. If you are seeing this in Aweber I would start by contacting them as that's a crazy low rate and I don't see anything in your set up that would lead to that.
One other possibility: It may be that your old pixel did such a good job of profiling those subscribers that did not have to confirm in the past, that they are sending you people that are not likely to confirm.
Be sure to create a brand new campaign for the new squeeze page, if you haven't already.

I am basing this on Aweber stats. When I setup Aweber, I created a new custom conversion goal and started a new campaign in Facebook, with the same settings as the old campaign using the new custom conversion.
Are you sure the issue is Aweber? I was having the same issue of low confirmations with Mailfit too.
I will check with Aweber and let you know what they say.
Aweber says I should update my spf record, which will take 2-3 days before it takes effect. So, should I pause my campaign? Or turn it off and start a new one in 3 days?
Hey Derrick,
Not being an expert on email deliverability myself, Aweber is going to be your best bet for a solid understanding of what is going on. But it does sound like it could be an issue with your email address based on what Aweber is saying. I'd follow there advice and pause your campaigns until the issue is resolved. And I would create a new conversion goal in FB and use that when you start back up. Make sure your conversion goal is set to select the new thank you page.

Hi John and Steve,
I'm back to pick your brains once more. So, I've been with Aweber for about two weeks now. According to Aweber's sign-up form, my conversion rate fluctuates between 22-30%. I am noticing I get most of my subscribers during the week. Mostly Monday through Wednesday and then conversions drop a little.
Confirmations have gone up a lot. I'm getting 55% confirmation now, which is better. I was at 13% before switching to Aweber. There's still a lot of work to be done in getting the numbers up, so I just want to focus on the confirmation email and the download email in the follow up series.
I have had 200 people subscribe through my Aweber form. I figure this is enough data to start making some conclusions.
First thing I have noticed is that my instructions aren't clear enough for people that are signing up to the list. Some people are replying to the confirmation email instead of clicking the link, plus I noticed that there are double signups. By this I mean some, (maybe 3 or 4 people) are signing up through the squeeze page and then signing up again through my main site form. I have made a few adjustments, but some people are still replying to me, instead of clicking the confirmation link. At this point I think it might be a good idea to get a second eye on it. Here is the thanks page everyone receives after submitting the form: https://deryo.com/music/thanks/
Confirmation email:
Subject line: {!firstname_fix}, confirm your email to begin downloading your free music
I received your request for a free download. Before I send it to you, I just need to confirm that you are the owner of this email address and I do in fact have your permission to send it to you. To confirm just go ahead and click the link below...
Downloads email: For those that do confirm, I am getting a 55% open rate and 44% click thru. Some people are opening and not clicking, which makes me wonder if again, my instructions are not clear. I have included email one at the bottom. But before I bother tweaking the email, I wanted to get your advice on if you think I have the right audience.
After email one: open rates dive off a cliff. Email two: open rate is 13% and click thru is 4%. So could this mean email two needs work or am I targeting the wrong audience?
Thanks in advance,
Derrick
Email 1:
Subject line:{!firstname_fix}, here's your songs
Hey Derrick,
Glad to hear that at least things are improving.
I think the copy on the thank you page is perhaps a little confusing.
Perhaps you could try something like...
==========
Wait! There is one thing left to do...
Thanks for signing up to get some free music. Before I can send you the download link I need you to click a conformation link in an email that was just sent to the email address you entered moments ago.
Please go t your inbox now and click the conformation link.
If for any reason you don't see it please check your junk folder. If you still don't see it then please contact me at: youremail@youremail.com.
I do this just to ensure that the email address was entered correctly and that I am not accidentally sending music to someone who did not request it 🙂
Once you have clicked the confirmation link you’ll receive your free songs.
Thanks!

The rest looks pretty good to me.
Let me know how you make out.

Thanks for the feedback on the thanks page.
What are your thoughts on the drop of in open rates for email one to email 2. Email one is 55% open and email two drops down to 13%. Does this mean I need to work on the subject line for email two or do I need to target another audience?
Those numbers are not good at all. Is this across 200 people? Take a look at the campaign stats and next to the open rates, how many actual emails does it show as having been sent?

Here is a tutorial: https://help.aweber.com/hc/en-.....ate-stats-
Scroll down to where it says "for campaigns". In the example image you can see the number of emails sent for each email. You will see the same in your account.

Thanks for the tutorial link. I went to campaigns, it didn't show any stats. I contacted Aweber, and they said, since I am using a follow-up series I have to go to reports.
200 people signed up to my list. About 45% did not confirm. In reports it says email 1 sent out 110 emails. with a 43% open rate and 46% click thru. Email 2 sent out 90 emails with 14% open rate and a click thru rate of 4%.
I see. Yeah, apologies. I assumed you were using campaigns. It is a bit of a pain with reports.
If those numbers include subscribers before you made the changes to the confirmed opt in settings then you may not have enough subscribers yet. If you reset things (sorry, I don't remember if you mentioned that), then your open rates are low nd I would suggest trying to work on the copy a bit and use language and benefits that will more directly appeal to your audience and demographic, as apposed to sticking with my templates.
Targeting could also play a roll, but copy is the first thing I would address.
