Hey John & everyone else,

This is Tom 'Nukage', I was an MMM 3.0 member, I also have completed Facebook Ads Workshop and Copywriting for Musicians.  I'm posting this mostly because I just started taking this stuff a lot more seriously-- I had a false start a few years ago when I wasn't really ready to begin, now I have a much better handle on my music, and I have much more music finished and ready to start advertising.  I'd been procrastinating on actually starting my facebook ads for AGES, but once I came up with a workable USP, things kind of fell into place a bit, and I came up with a working concept. I produce many types of electronic music, but they're all within the Bass Music genre which includes Dubstep, Trap, Glitch Hop, Breakbeat, and Drum & bass (and more). Many of the artists I listen to and respect also are generally bass music artists who produce music in many genres.

Anyway, the point of all of that is to say, I consider myself fairly versatile and I never wanted to really pigeonhole myself into one genre. But what John and other internet marketers in general have taught me is, you actually do need to represent something very specific, and easy to identify.

So, one unique aspect of my music is that I've been performing my electronic music with live guitar for several years, and I've incorporated elements of heavy metal into some of the songs.  I've gotten feedback over these years that guitar is an important aspect of my brand, and that I should emphasize it more.

I also noticed that two of my favorite artists, Zedd and Seven Lions, are known as 'former metal drummers' in interviews with the press, so it seemed like this sort of transformation was notable and interesting to people.  I also noticed over the years that many, many of the artists who were making these heavy electronic music genres were previously involved with the metal scene (notably Skrillex as well), as musicians, producers, or fans.  As someone who also went through a similar transition, I thought it would make for a great backstory, hence my blogpost of a lifetime.

I'd been working with a metal vocalist for a few years, one of the tracks being on the album I had just finished.  He'd actually asked me to remix another tune of his a few months back.  I decided to take the original tune we'd done, a remix of it,  the remix I was going to do for him, and another remix I'd done for another artist with the same vocalist, and release it as a free EP as my 'lead magnet' (confusing way to say it but just check out the tracklist here).

Anyway, this post is already a bit long so I'll just conclude by saying I'm currently running my first round of ads using dynamic creative, and the results are quite interesting.  My costs are currently pretty high, but that's of course because I'm testing a large number of images and headlines.  It's interesting that some have high clickthrough rates but no conversions, whereas others are converting at around 30% with a similar number of clickthroughs.  I just got started with this stuff less than 2 weeks ago, so the results so far are promising... some of the images I'm using in dynamic creative are converting as low as $1.60 per conversion, but I only have 3 conversions so far, so it's VERY far from statistically significant.   I'm going to let it run for a few more days before I make any decisions of course, and I'll post what I find!

Here is my landing page in case anyone wants to check it out: http://www.nukagemusic.com/car.....-download/

Reading everyone's posts on here has been quite illuminating so far... Looking forward to studying all this stuff in the coming weeks!

Hey Tom,

Good to see you here in the forum. It sounds like you're off to a promising start. The kinds of differences you're seeing between ads are normal, and I agree, very interesting. It sounds like the light bulb has turned on and you are starting to see how all these pieces fit together and how moving elements around can impact the results.

Good luck and keep us posted.
