Charley Langer said Incidentally, I just decided to throw a small "HOTH3" package at my blog site tonight. (Yes, I've got my authority site on a separate IP
). I'm curious to see how it will do. I don't have a lot invested in my blog yet and I can always build another one if Google retaliates. I'll let ya know!
Awesome. I like thehoth. I plan to roll out a number of test sites soon with plans from them. Give it some time but post your results in the case study forum once you have some.
Ok. It's been a month. I spent $100 (you can spend as little as $60). My rankings are improving, and I'm now getting a good 5 visitors (average) a day from search traffic. Not exactly knocking it out of the park. The search traffic nets me about a subscriber every other day. Nothing to write home about.
On the other hand, I don't blog as much as your recommend (I'm at about every week or two). Still, the overall trend in visitors is increasing. Blogging for traffic is not a get rich quick scheme by any stretch of the imagination, but I can see that I will eventually have a nice passive source of traffic that I won't have to pay for.
Also, every time I post a blog, I get a bunch of subscribers from facebook and twitter followers because they go to read the content and see my opt-in. These are followers that just don't respond to my periodic "sign up for a free download" calls to action or respond to the direct message they are sent upon following on twitter.
Finally, I think The HOTH is useful if you want to see how to DIY. They are very transparent about what they are doing. You can do it yourself if you want to spend the time. I just don't want to spend the time.
Cool, what specific movement did you see in the serps for your target keywords? Meaning, did you go from 20 to 7... or whatever? And how many keywords did you target with your Hoth pack?
Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? I targeted: smooth jazz, best smooth jazz, romantic sax, romantic saxophone
Here's today's screenshot of Market Samurai's rank tracker: SCREENSHOT. My blog wasn't ranking for any keywords prior to The HOTH.
(By the way, you see that my squeeze page is ranking #6 for "smooth jazz download," which I haven't purposefully SEO'd. Those backlinks are just from what happened organically.)
I still don't see backlinks listed in the rank tracker for the keywords I had The HOTH do. But my rankings went up, and I'm getting search traffic now. Any thoughts on that?
Hi Charley,
Another way to see what the HOTH is up to is to monitor the new links to your site via Webmaster tools - here's a good video that explains how to do this.
