I have had a few people comment on my ads saying, "I'm not going to download something without hearing a sample of what you sound like first." Would it be a bad idea to include a short sample track on the squeeze page?

Hi Luke,

Doing so almost always hurts conversions. It satisfies curiosity and leaves people feeling less compelled to take action. There are exceptions to this, but that is most commonly the case.

You can't listen to what people say, you can only track what they do. And the two are often at odds with each other.

That said, the fact that people are saying that suggests that you may be under describing the essence of the music, as that is not a typical complaint I see. It does happen though.

I've seen maybe 1 of those kinds of complaints for every 100 conversions, so I don't think it's too big of an issue. I have wondered, however, if there's a benefit to allowing people to sign up with Facebook or Google, since most people sign up for those with their real email and you could link that up to Aweber to sign them up to your list. I don't know, I'm wondering if that might overcome those few people who are resistent to signing up with their email address...

Then again, maybe not worth the hassle for a possibility of a 1% increase in conversions.

I haven't messed with those features in a while, but whenever I have in the past they added complexity to the sign up process and conversions went down. Sort of silly, given that it's supposed to make the sign up process easier. Very few direct response marketers use the integrated sign up options, so my assumption is that most people experience the same thing I have. I don't think it is likely to boost conversions.
