Hey John:

Got a question for you about a tip I found somewhere online.

I'm experimenting with a niche affiliate site for something outside of my musical pursuits, and I've been doing a lot of research into how to rank these types of sites.

Came across this today:

http://www.opportunitiesplanet.....with-ease/

This guy recommends a bunch of tactics I've seen elsewhere, but #4 on his list, "301 an Aged, High PR Domain From GoDaddy Auctions" was a new one to me.

Have you heard anything about this? What do you think?

Thanks!

Hey Mike,

Yeah, a lot of the more aggressive SEO guys I know do this and it does work. But I've also been told that it eventually gets discovered and sometimes your site can get into trouble. Not sure if it would hurt you if you had a lot of other natural stuff going on though. The guys I know who do it are grey hat guys that burn and turn a high volume of sites looking for temporary but strong rankings. My guess is that as a small part of a bigger more natural backlink profile you'd be pretty safe. But to my knowledge there is risk there.

With all of that said, this guy is ranking #1 for his target keyword so he's doing something right.

For me personally, I'd try it for something that was just an affiliate site. But I'd stay away from it as a strategy for a site that I was investing in for the long haul. IE, your main authority site.

Cool, thanks John.

Yes, I'm considering this for an affiliate site, and was going to create a bunch of more natural backlinks as well (in fact, that's what I'm doing this afternoon).
