I've noticed some YouTube videos have an Artist ID on the far right under the "likes/dislikes" and under the ID there are links to buy the song via iTunes, Amazon, etc. I've searched several spots and haven't been able to find out how they get the buy links. I was wondering if anyone on the board has this feature and how did you get it? Thanks.
Hey Paula, is this what you're looking for?

I just looked into this a little more and I don't think that's what you're asking actually. I believe what you are trying to do involves getting a content ID for your music and then selecting an ads partnership option. Though I'm not 100% sure, I haven't done it. Send me a link to an example so I am sure we're talking about the same thing. I'll try to get a more precise answer.

Here's a link to an old Radney Foster video: http: //youtu.be/J9HwkKw8TpU. I put a space after http: so that it doesn't embed the video. You need to go to YouTube to see the layout and the links. BTW, I worked on this project many many years ago.
That link is either incomplete or the forum truncated it. It does that sometimes if you don't actually hyper link it using the rich text editor. Can you check and post again with the editor?
Thanks.

I put in a space after the http: and before the // so the video wouldn't embed on the forum. You need to see it on YouTube to see the links. Paste the link in your browser then delete the space between : and //. Sorry I wasn't more clear. I couldn't figure out how to paste the link without the video appearing.
Ah, okay, I know what you're talking about. That's a tough one. I presume it's part of a partner program that certain labels/ publishers are in on. But I'm not sure. I contacted youtube. Maybe I'll get the scoop on this. I noticed it was at the bottom of one of my videos where I used a Robert Johnson song (that I thought was in the public domain but must be owned by someone), but not on others that have songs that are in itunes. Hopefully I can dig up more info for you. If anyone is in the know on this please post the details.
But with all of that said, I'd personally rather drive people to my squeeze then itunes.

Man, this was a tough one to get to the bottom of. This appears to be the answer...
"Those links are negotiated through special content deals with Youtube. To date, only Major record labels (Like Warner Music and VEVO) and their affiliates have their artists set up like that (of which Robert Johnson is with one of the labels within VEVO). The rest of us use the merch store to label our songs we are selling on affiliate websites like itunes, amazon, and Google Play.

Thanks John! I really appreciate you researching this. I thought it was going to be an easy answer that I was just overlooking. I agree about driving traffic to the squeeze page, but I am finding that other people are putting up videos of my artist's music. I would like to take advantage of their videos.
