It might seem like overkill to get a second word press site just for your LTO, but I have one that I use just for my LTO. I figured that one less psychiatrist bill has paid for it. Like you, I'm really not tech savvy. I need to keep things simple so that I can continue to love my life.
Yeah, that's route I'm taking after puking my guts up several times and stopping myself from going and buying a pack of smokes after a year being a non smoker! But I gotta say you are 10 times better at this than me! Every time I start into something new I'm always like...."Hey Charley! Over here!" Thanks for your help Bro! I owe you a beer or two or 30!

Hey Dave,
Sorry to get in late on this. You might just go back over the LTO video. It should be pretty straight forward. I'm not clear why it matters if you have a side bar or not for an LTO? All you need to do is create a special page (ideally hidden from the general public) that has some copy on it explaining what you are offering and what your terms are. Then you set up the page expiration plugin to make it expire 3 days (or however long you like) after a user clicks on it. Done.
As far as copy, I just usually create some kind of sales copy that stands regardless of whether or not it's an LTO and then add a headline at the top explaining that it's a limited offer. Ideally you could add the counter as well. I would use the emails to create most of the urgency.
To make things very simple, I would just create a paypal button and put it on that order page. That way you don't need to keep creating coupons and expiring things, and you can just make the entire thing 100% automated.
Am I missing something? Let me know if I didn't address this correctly.

Yeah, John. If you have a sidebar, and use the counter, it gets messed up in some themes. That's why I am suggesting that you take off the side bar if you want to use the counter.
I see, didn't have that problem with mine. But isn't Dave saying he doesn't have a side bar?
As another note, if you contact Scott James, I'm sure he could easily design anyone a custom page template to fit whatever specks you want. I used to do the second install as well, but having a page template option keeps things cleaner.
If you mention the Insider Circle I'm sure Scott would give you a really reasonable price.

Thanks, John. I appreciate you mentioning Scott. I'm thinking my pages could use a little sprucing up, and I just don't have the time or expertise. I've seen some of what Scott can do -- it's really nice.
BTW, the problem with the counter is apparently fairly common because I had a couple Insider Circle people email me about my LTO page, and tell me they were having problems getting it to look right. The counter needs a lot of width, and some themes just don't work very well with it. Anyway...just an FYI for you in case you have anybody ask you about that issue.

You covered it pretty good here. I just feel that in the same way a squeeze page gives you two options, act on the offer or leave, that would work in the LTO page just as affectively? I did get an LTO domain
http://www.silasdoganlto.com/?page_id=12 for this purpose. Still working on it if you don't mind taking a look at it and letting me know what could be improved. Thanks

You might contact their support. There may be a way to access the CSS via ftp. I haven't looked. If not, creating a custom single column template that you can select from your template drop down in wordpress should only cost between $20 - $50. Start with Scott. If he can't do it within your budget then just go to scriptlance.com.
I made one once. It's actually a pretty simple process for a designer.

Hey John:
I've got a two-pronged question for you about running LTOs with Aweber. Here are the questions:
1) If you're running an LTO like your example, where the last 3 messages in your autoresponder are: offer, reminder, final reminder, and your prospect buys immediately after receiving the first of those emails, how do you keep them from getting the last two?
2) Is there a way to finesse the process of moving your new buyer to a new "buyers only" mailing list?
I assume the answer to #1 is "You immediately unsubscribe them from your list and get them on another list that's only for people who bought the LTO". Am I right? Is this the way you're doing it?
If so, then what's the best way to handle the rigamarole of leading them through yet another list opt-in?
Here's what I mean. So I've been using Topspin to handle the purchase flow for the CD I'm offering in my LTO, but decided to switch to Aweber because Topspin can't email me to let me know a purchase has been made (wtf??).
I set everything up with Aweber + Paypal for the new purchase flow and then went through the process myself, as a guinea pig. Everything went smoothly for me, the guinea pig buyer, until I clicked the Purchase button. At that point, I got the familiar and expected receipt from Paypal, which is good.
However, because I (operating in my role as the seller) had earlier created an automation rule in Aweber telling the system to unsubscribe anyone who bought my LTO from my prospects list and subscribe them to my new buyers only list, the buyer version of me then also received a new "Response Required: Please confirm your request for information" email. This is really confusing for the buyer. All I want to do is get my CD. Why do I need to sign up for yet another list?
I get that as the seller, I can customize the verbiage on the opt-in email, and the language and graphics on the subscription confirmation page to make it seem like a more logical part of the CD purchase process, but it's easy to see how many customers, having done their purchase duty and received their receipt, would totally ignore the new list sign-in. And since Aweber has at that point dutifully unsubscribed them from my first list, now they're not on any of my lists, and I can't contact someone who actually chose to buy with me.
That can't be right, right? If you can tell me what I'm missing here (and I'm sure it's something simple :), I'd really appreciate it.
Sorry to go on at such length and complexity - couldn't think of a simpler, shorter way to put it.

Guessing I've scared people with my long post 😉
Sorry I couldn't make it any shorter! Anyone else with any feedback on this? Steve? Thanks!

Hey Mike-
I used to run all of my LTOs through Bandcamp. But, now I do the sales with paypal. Pain in the ass to set up. But, its really worth it. Here's mine:
http://deanfields.com/wordpress2/offer
Anyone who buys it gets an email that says "Response Required: Please confirm your purchase of Dean Fields Music" or something like that....
And when they confirm, the album is delivered with the first followup email.
And since setting it up this way, literally every single person has confirmed into my sales list.
Oh....one thing to clarify...I deliver the album downloads to people who purchase the digital version AND to the folks who buy the physical CD. HOnestly, because its easier for me to just have it set up that way so they all go to one list. But, also..i think it helps get people off the fence to buy if they prefer CD but can listen to the downloads while it ships.
Not even sure if that answers your question...But hope it helps.

Sweet - thanks, Dean. Exactly what I needed to know!
Glad to hear that everyone has confirmed into your sales list, and yes, I'm sending CD buyers the digital download too (makes the most sense, right? ). Your page looks great, btw.

Hey Mike,
Sorry for the slow response. Just seeing this now. Dean basically has you covered. I do the same thing and ask all customers to re-opt-in, and it's never a problem. I just take people to a page that says something like, Thanks for ordering, please enter your name and email and I'll send you the album/product/whatever. Then I take them to a confirmation page that explains I just need to make sure they are in fact the owner of the email address and explain that a confirmation email was sent to them and that once they click it they will be forwarded to the download page. It's a tad cumbersome, but it doesn't ever seem to deter anyone. You could technically turn off the double opt in and simplify it for the user, but then all your most valuable leads would be on a list that would likely suffer down the line in terms of deliverability, so I leave it on. My feeling is that once someone has ordered, they are not going to abandon the process. With many thousands of customers under my belt, it's never been an issue.

thanks, John. Again, great to hear anecdotal confirmation that people won't skip the re-confirmation from someone with as much experience as you've had.
