Hey John,
I just glanced at the limited time offer module you just created and hope to take a better look soon. I was going to mention the page expiration robot but I see you're way ahead of me there!
I'm sure any of our fellow Insiders who take the time to setup a LTO will see immediate benefits - since we all know that it's all about the scarcity baby!
Yeah, I literally spent days looking for a better option as I prefer to create my sales pages as static html pages. But after buying a number of scripts I simply couldn't find anything better than Page Expiration Robot. It's ease of use makes it worth switching my sales page to wordpress.
There is one script out there that I am still holding out hope for as the owner has been very helpful with support. But I'm yet to get it to work.
Once you get into creating databases and configuring scripts it can make your head explode.

Dude... head explode indeed.
I went through some shit with Jamroom Manifesto that involved using php to pass form data to both my autoresponder and an affiliate tracking javascript.
Got it to work, but it was only working sporadically. I finally caved in and paid a guy on elance $55 to fix in ONE HOUR that which sucked a month of my life away.
Outsource... please. I pains me to see your covered in your own blood!
Outsourcing.....head exploding......I'm starting to see a common theme here guys! Outsourcing is something I will be looking in to soon, very soon!
What would a jam session with Gordon Lightfoot, Collective Soul, and Damien Rice sound like?
Check out Greg Parke and you’ll have a pretty good idea!
John,
How do you keep track of those on your email list who have purchased from you and those who have not? Is this only a feature with Aweber? I use Constant Contact.
Donna,
I'm not a constant contact user or aweber user. I use getresponse, but from my understanding it is very easy to automatically bounce people to a new list when they purchase using the automation tools that your autoresponder provides for you.
Sometimes it is done by simply placing a 1X1 pixel on your downloadpage. Check constant contact's automation tools. 🙂

Hey Donna,
Like Steve mentioned you would need to ask Constant Contact if they offer this feature but with Aweber it's really simple. there is a simple automation setting that allows you to tell your system to automatically unsubscribe a person from one list when they sign up for another one. This way you can automatically remove customers from prospect lists and spare your biggest customers some of the heavy promotional stuff that you might be sending out to your general list. It's a really valuable tool. Especially when you want to offer discounts to try and convince non-buyers to buy, but you'd rather your existing customers didn't see this and get a bit bummed that they did not get the discount.

Donna,
I'd like to think that Constant Contact will have the functionality that you're looking for - but like the rest here, I don't use it (I've been using Mail Chimp so far). If you're stuck you can have them opt in to a customer list and then manually remove them from your free or prospect list. Yeah - it's a pain in the ass, but if you're managing a relatively small list it's probably worth doing so that you don't piss off your customers with promos to buy something they already have...
...at least until you get around to getting a different auto responder service anyway.
I finished adding the LTO (with the wordpress plugin) to my followups the day before yesterday. Here's an email I got today that tickled my funnybone:
Charley,
Brilliant marketing. I may even buy a CD. But I don't buy your
(clever) story, not for even a nanosecond. 😉 I think
you may be married, but not even sure that's true. <grin>...I have a fairly large following there. Let me know your G+ handle,
and I may pimp you a bit by talking about how you are marketing.
And...yes...he did buy a CD.

Now you have me wondering what the "clever story" is that he's talking about?

Thanks! I'll be honest...I've been tempted to change it just 'cause I'm a little tired of it. But it works well. So, I guess it's going to stay for a while. But I appreciate the validation.

Thanks, Dean. I love your "footer-thingy" (forgot what it's called) at the bottom of your posts. I just can't resist clicking it. Must resist... Nah...I gotta see this!
Well, I learned a couple of things during my experiences with the page exporation robots for wordpress.
First thing I learned is I don't think that the setting for " expire for all" ( or whatever it says) is what I thought it was. I think with that does is to start the countdown the first time anybody lands on your landing page. Long story short, I have put it back to the default settings of expire for IP.
The second thing I learned is if you see any changes in your sales, it's better to check it out sooner rather than later.
Anyway...No great harm was done. thank you to Dean who helped me track down the mistake.

Definitely a good point. With direct response marketing you typically find that your conversion rates are vary consistent, at least with a particular type of traffic. If something changes all of the sudden it's likely something has gone wrong.

That's funny, but you make a great point about you being tired of your squeeze page. I find it's often the same way with the music...you may get tired of playing a particular song at times and have to remind yourself that for many of your audience members the song may be 'brand new' to them.
Squeeze pages are like songs...who knew?
