In this month's training module Scott James from WebsitesForRockStars.com is giving everyone here in the Insider Circle a free mobile friendly squeeze page template. He'll show you how to edit and install it, and then later in the lesson I will show you how to promote it using a service called Trumpia.
This is a potentially very powerful way to build your list fast. This is gonna be HUGE for those of you who regularly perform live.
Promo code MANIFESTO will get you DOUBLE the text credits at Trumpia. But if you click the links in this post the bonus credits should already be added and the promo code per-populated. The details are all in the lesson resources.
If you have any questions for Scott or Myself, this is the place to leave them.

A few additional points I failed to clarify in the video lesson…
1. Trumpia starts at $15/month for the cheapest option and goes up from there.
2. Your organization’s phone number does appear on the very first message to go out along with the “standard text rates apply” info. HOWEVER, this does not need to be your personal number or even a cell number. It can be a Skype number, a Google Voice number or any number you want.
3. If you want to test this simply text JOHNO to 69302

Since we will be creating a new list to deal with "mobile" leads, don't we also
then have to create a follow up sequence for that list? Is there an easy way to
copy our existing follow ups over to a new list in AWeber? I haven't seen an
option for this but I just might not know where to look for it.
Yes, you can link follow up sequences between accounts. It also updates when you add new emails to the master list. Not sure about broadcasts.
Here are the instructions:

I ran into a small snag while getting this mobile option working. It seems my phone (Samsung Gravity T)
would not trigger the condition if ((screen.height < 480) || (screen.width < 480)).
I even tried various sizes to see if I could get it to work, but it wouldn't.
So, I had to snoop around on the web and found this code:

This still did not work because my phone is not any of those models. Once I added "samsung" to that list of
model types, it worked fine. Just posted this in case anyone else has a similar issue.
Really good to know Tim, thanks. Man this stuff still makes my head hurt after more than 4 years of doing it 🙂

Ok…this is my third time writing this post! LOL! I keep figuring stuff out. Anyway, apparently the redirect script doesn't work on all phones. It works on mine and my daughter's, but it doesn't work on my son's. He has an older PC based smart phone. His does detect other sites that have mobile versions.
Would some of you test this out? Here's the QR code ( you have to click on the picture to get rid of the mouse icon):
Incidentally, I'm planning to put QR codes on business cards that say "free download."
Still doing more experimenting… It doesn't redirect when I use the QR code reader, but it does when I type in the email address on my phone browser. Apparently the QR code reader goes to a different browser that doesn't redirect? My phone is a Galaxy S Droid.
Hmmm…it is buggy on my phone using QR Droid. Sometimes it redirects and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried clearing the cache and browser history. It still seems hit and miss. Any ideas?
Hi Charley,
I tried your qr but it doesn't work with my phone. There's an icon of a mouse on the upper right corner. I'm not sure if that's part of your qr or maybe blocking it??

Yeah...I realized after I posted that you need to click on the QR code to get rid of the mouse icon. It's the mouse icon that makes it not work. I feel so tech challenged! LOL!
My brilliant mind just informed me that I should have created the q r code to go right to my mobile site. That way I wouldn't have to trust the redirect. Duh! Fortunately, I only printed 200 cards. I should burn through those pretty quickly at Namm.
Every now and then I announce "I know you're listening" to empty rooms.
Lol! Sorry! Through nobody's fault but mine, I have found myself talking to myself. I just found it funny!

When all else fails, read the experiences of someone else. This seems to have solved my problem. Do I feel like an idiot after all these posts or what??? Maybe they should be left up to show that you don't have to be incredibly bright to make this marketing stuff work. Big sigh...
Here's something interesting. When you domain mask (at least with GoDaddy.com), the formatting of the mobile squeeze page changes (so that it opens up wider than it should be and doesn't look mobile) and the Aweber doesn't go to the correct thank you pages.
Anyway, just discovered that as I went down the rabbit hole with installing everything. We're getting going on this slowly but surely. The email list move to Aweber was kind of painful with a huge loss of subscribers, but that's okay because their email templates are so much cooler and the amount of services they have is incredible. We were on Topspin (whose email services blow fucking goats, no templates, no opt-in, everything useful has to be imported via CSV) and previous to that, Fanbridge (good analytics, but their templates are rubbish, way better to use your own HTML)
Our squeeze page is at http://www.sunspotuniverse.com - we're gonna start adding more graphics to the page and this week I'm working on the autoresponder campaign (beyond the first email), but I wanted to warn everyone about the domain masking because it doesn't make any sense (I kept on banging my head against the wall on why my page wasn't opening correctly like johnomusic.net and it didn't start doing it correctly until I turned masking off.)
The squeeze page templates are great. Aweber is an A Plus company when it comes to customizability and making shit easy to use, good recommendation.
Hey, Mike! I'm glad things are going well for you and that you are making progress, even though "slowly but surely."
I feel your pain when it comes to losing subscribers. I just finished making the transition to Aweber myself. I've been using Aweber for followups for quite awhile, but I continued to do my newsletters in the old system. I think the reality that I was forced to face is this: I had lost those subscribers long before I made the transition to Aweber. Seriously! They can't make a single mouse click for me? They can't love me that much! 🙂
Better deliverability and analytics has made it so worth it for me. I'll bet you lunch that your open rate goes up quite a bit. 🙂

Just so you guys know for future reference, that little mouse icon appears anytime you post a large image to the forum. It's really just an indicator that means "click to see full size image".

Hey Mike,
I hope you don't mind me asking, but for what reason are you attempting to mask a domain? Was this for an affiliate link or something?
Just curious...
I was attempting to mask the domain so I didn't have to pay for any more hosting to make things look consistent. I already have hosting for our main site, http://www.sunspotmusic.com, and I host the squeeze pages on that site as well. I want cold traffic to goto http://www.sunspotuniverse.com and I didn't want them to see that the domain was forwarded until after they'd signed up for the email list (so that they don't just delete the folder name and then go straight to my content-filled website before signing up.)
Plus, I like the consistent look of a .com, I mask our podcast site, http://www.sunspotroadmania.com even though it's a Blogger templated site, so that it looks more pro. It's like all the people that have Reverbnation sites as their main homepage, it just screams amateur and I'm trying to avoid that.
