In this month’s lesson I am going to show you how to use Facebook’s latest feature, “Dynamic Creative”, to painlessly split test multiple elements at once in your Facebook Ads. I’ll walk you through the complete set up and show you how I used this feature to cut my advertising costs down by almost 70%.

You can find the lesson here.

If you have any questions about this strategy please post them below.

Enjoy!

I've been hearing about the coming of Dynamic Creative on other marketing podcasts so great timing with your lesson on it.  It's definitely something we need to be leveraging.  It streamlines the split testing to get to a best Ad process significantly.  I hope they will allow multiple URLs in the near future because split testing squeeze pages is one of the most important pieces.

But, when I go in I don't see the Dynamic Creative option.  Is that because they haven't rolled it out to all users yet?

Hmmm, I was under the impression that it had been rolled out everywhere at this stage. Are you sure that you followed the exact steps in the video? If you don't turn on dynamic creative in the ad set then you won't see it in the ad level.

Glad you enjoyed the lesson. I've been having a lot of success with Dynamic Creative since releasing the lesson.

Hi John, wasn't sure what the ideal protocol was for responding to the training video so below is a copy of what I posted on the tutorial page.. cheers :~)

*******************

Hey great tutorial John! What an awesome new FB feature.. will really help fast-track the testing process. I’ve just given it a try and after only 12 hours I’ve already seen some great data and results to work with.

However, one thing I’ve just picked up on during my review of metrics is that my “Results” & “Cost per Results” columns are blank, even though other column metrics are showing data. I also noticed that in the Totals area under each column that I have the text “Purchase” (under “Results” column) & “Per Purchase” (under “Cost per Result” column).

I then headed over to the Campaign details page (where you set the Objective) and noticed the “Key Result” drop down selection options (“Purchases” – “Leads” – “Registrations” – “Custom Conversions” – “None of the apply”)… I don’t recall the “Key Result” setting option appearing during the campaign setup process.. and it doesn’t appear in your video example either.. what’s the deal with this setting?

Mine was set to “Purchases” so I’ve changed it to “Leads” .. is this the correct thing to do?

Will changing this setting during the campaign mess with results etc?

Appreciate your time & energy on this.. with thx :~)

No worries at all. There is no real protocol. I tend to think of the lesson page as a good place to post feedback, and the forum as a good place to ask questions and start a dialogue, but you can post either in either place.

Here's what you need to do...

Go to your ad manager >>> open up your options in the top left corner of the page and click on conversion goals >>> click create custom conversions >>>.

From there you will have a bunch of options that should be self explanatory. If traffic or conversions are the objectives you would select "is equal to" and paste the landing page url in the field. But you can play with that a bit based on whatever you are trying to do.

From the category drop down you would select what the goal is.

Then, in your ad manager you would go and create a "custom column" and add the new goal to your "view" and save it.

Let me know if that's not clear.

Yes that all makes sense.. I can see how I can retrofit with new columns to detail pixl activity. I must have missed the "Results" drop down options during the campaign creation stage.. thx :~)

Hi John,

Thank you for this great lesson. I launched my first ever FB ad campaign last night for Renara Music. It was hard enough to set everything up for the first time even with all the training. Without your training videos I would have been totally lost. 18.5 hours in and I think it's going well. I've had 22 conversions at $1.70 average for the campaign. Ad sets are running from $1.23 to $2.14 CPC each and I hope it improves further over the next few days, after which I will examine the data from Dynamic Creative. One exciting thing is that the cheapest clicks are from targeting an ultra-famous writer (Paulo Coelho) with 29Million FB followers. So if they prove to be buyers I could spend a lot of money getting an ad in front of that many users. Now, back to my Copywriting homework. Loving the courses and everything you do for us.

Cheers, Tad
