It’s been a year or so since the last Squeeze Page Boot Camp, and with so many new members I thought it was time to do another one. But this year, we will broaden the definition a little bit to include any "landing page".

To clarify... this primarily means a squeeze page. However, as the MMM strategy has broadened over the last few years to include things like the "free for shipping and handling model", "crowd funding", etc, you are welcome to submit any sort of landing page where you send COLD traffic.

Landing Page Bootcamp is an opportunity to submit your squeeze page (or other landing page) for review, and I will record my feedback and share it in an upcoming Insider Circle lesson.

This is helpful for a couple reasons. Not only does it allow you to directly get feedback on your landing page, but because multiple landing pages will be reviewed rapidly in sequence, it should really help to strengthen your understanding of what makes a good landing page and to highlight common winning elements as well as mistakes.

Here’s what you need to do…

1. Post the URL to your landing page below, as a reply to this thread.

2. I also need to know your primary target audience, age range, and location. Please do not post dozens of potential target audiences, just your top one or two ideal audiences. The main targets who you think should be a slam dunk. Please keep things brief.

3. If you feel like posting your current conversion rate that would also be helpful. This is optional.

Here’s what you need to know…

Reviews will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and I can only guarantee reviews of the first ten pages submitted. If I can review more I will, but the “official” limit is 10 reviews to ensure I can spend as much time as needed on each. However, if demand is high enough I might split this into two lessons, so please feel free to submit your URL even if you’re not one of the first 10.

IMPORTANT: It is important to be aware that I will be offering constructive criticism in this lesson. As such, much of what I say may not be what everyone wants to hear. I will of course try to be kind and gentle wherever possible, but I don’t believe anyone is served if I pull any punches. So if you have thin skin, or are not comfortable with your landing page being shared and discussed in this context, then I would perhaps not submit your URL for this exercise.

It does not matter if your site is doing bad or good. Either way, this is a chance for you to get some extra perspective on your site.

I will be recording the video soon, so be sure and submit your URL as soon as possible.

As always, this should be a lot of fun, and thanks for being part of the lesson.

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective? Click here to book a session with me now.

http://www.stuarttoddwhitworth.com

Primary target audience:  Ben Folds, Ben Folds Five

Age range:  Maybe 24 - 60?

Location:  United States

*I don't think this matters, but just FYI:  the images on my squeeze page are screen shots from the music video of a different song than the song I'm giving away on my squeeze page (we didn't film a music video for the song I'm giving away on my squeeze page).  I just chose these images because they're of me on the piano and also the strings players and band, which all coincides with the copy on my squeeze page.  Shouldn't matter, since I have not yet released that music video and no one has seen it.

Squeeze Page: https://www.magrassmusic.com

Location: Europe, USA, Japan, Canada.

Audience: Parliament-Funkadelic, Snarky Puppy, Knower, D'Angelo, Hiatus Kayote etc. 20 to 65+ age range of both sexes.

Genre: Funk, Jazz, Soul, Blues and a bit of Rock.

I have commenced my campaign three days ago (12th of July) , these are the numbers so far:

Reach: 46,159

Amount Spent: £10.32

Impressions: 48,072

Link Clicks: 138

Despite numbers looking pretty decent, I still haven't had any subscribers signing up to my mailing list.

As per 15th of July, The CPC (Cost Per Link Click) sits at £0.19 ($0.25 roughly?)

Please go hard on my page, I want to know EVERYTHING that it's not working as I NEED this to be working. 🙂

Thank you !

I have done split tests on these 2 squeeze pages, and number 1 does much better - especially among a warm audience (meaning, when I've runs ads to this squeeze page targeting my existing fans on Facebook). It seems to me that number two SHOULD convert better all around, but it doesn't. I'm confused by this because #2 follows more closely your suggestions for squeeze page copy, and it gives more info about the type of artist that I am. But even with cold audiences, #1 converts slightly better. Would you mind giving some insight as to why #1 converts better than #2? I like #2 and would like to be able to use it - or aspects of it - if possible 🙂

Landing Page:

https://www.nukage.net/free-music/

Target audience: melodic dubstep.. Skrillex, Seven Lions, Monstercat Records

Age Range - 18-34

Location: United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom

I would love to get some feedback on this page. I have not tested it with ads yet, but when I first did the course (being a professional web designer) I created my own landing page template that was more 'lead pages' style and looked nothing like John's version, so I wanted to finally circle back and do it the 'correct way' given that my last efforts were not good at all (I think it was over $6 per conversion). I also have changed my style of dubstep from a more aggressive style to a more melodic style so I needed to change my USP and my target audience anyway.

Landing page: https://onebadday.is/free-music-ny/

I've been targeting Neil Young, Tom Waits and Nick Cave fans. I've gotten the best conversion rates from Neil Young fans, but my sales have been pretty low, unfortunately. That probably has more to do with my funnel, but maybe there's also a disconnect happening in the landing page, or right after.

Age range: 25-55 (I've also tried 25-65+)

Location: US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand

My USP: One Bad Day is a quirky Icelandic Americana singer songwriter who deals with his personal struggles by singing beautiful melodies about grim things.

I have also used a different headline sometimes: https://onebadday.is/freemusic/

Landing Page  https://www.electronicgospelex.....freemusic/

Targets:  1.  Christians   2.  Electronic music fans.  3.  Fans of Theatre as it is written as an electronic musical which includes theater acting in between tracks which is part of the story.

Location:  Start in Canada and USA.  Interested in Europe as they all seem to be in to electronic music-my background is netherlands so would probably start there.

I have no data as of yet.

http://www.jeanmorrisonmusic.c.....free-music

Target Audience: Jeff Buckley, Young The Giant 25+ US, Canada

First ran a traffic objective campaign then a dynamic creative campaign and finally settled on a winning ad which was this..

Young the Giant, US and British Columbia ages 35-64

Results were cost per sub $2.79 gaining 77 subscribers. $214 spent on winning ad.

These were being run in late 2018 but stopped ads due to inability to break even on initial funnel and also ran out of funds.
