I just submitted 4 different jobs to http://fiverr.com for press releases. I mostly just want to see what I get back. The completion times range from 6 - 18 days so it may take a little while before I get anything but I'll share the results. I'm going to be submitting these more for backlinks then anything else. We'll see.

I just searched "write press release" and then sorted by rating. Then looked for people with very high review counts and ratings as close to 100% positive as I could find. I went with 3 different authors for a total of 4 releases. I'm hoping these come back okay because this would be a great source of cheap writers.

Any updates on this John? I'm interested in hearing about any and all experiences with using Fiver - it sounds like a great resource that I may have to hit up sometime soon.

Hey Mike,

Yeah, I put in 4 orders and got 1 person who flaked completely and never delivered (I got my money back), 1 person did an okay job, and 1 person wrote 2 that were outstanding. I put in an order for 4 more from the last person. I have published one of them in a niche I want to keep private, and I have another one for MMM that I will publish in the next few weeks. I just don't want to publish it here before it goes live. As soon as it does I'll post the example of what you can get for $5. The quality was pretty outstanding for $5.

Wow, that's pretty cool. The one who flaked out on you wasn't a complete bust - because you got your money back and you ended up finding a pretty good writer that you can continue to use in the future - all for putting up $20 bucks and a little time.

I guess the thing to keep in mind is to have a few lined up to test out at the same time? How much time did you invest in this? I'm assuming it wasn't that much but what do I know?

Any more news on this topic? Who did you end up going through to get the press release written? and what did you end up doing with it, do you have a list of where to submit press releases to? I have a show coming up in Feb at The Hard Rock and Im thinking it might not be a bad idea to do a press release, no?

Hey Brandon,

Check out the module on "getting press without  press release". Everything is discussed there as far as strategy goes. The short of it is that if you can afford it I would go with PR Web. If not, I like Online PR Media.

I have had really great luck with Fiverr for press releases. Just go to Fiverr.com and search "press release". Sort by rating and look for anyone with a very high rating. If they are in the US, even better. Just make sure they don't submit your press release if you plan on submitting it to a paid directory. I had one writer do that without asking and it really hurt my press release when it finally came out through a paid directory.
