Wow, I finally got all the way through the video training for October. I think I need some more notebook paper soon, because I am about out! Tons of great info

This might be a bit picky, but in my notes I wanted to put a reference to the video timeline, so I could easily find certain sections for review later. The only problem is that the pop up timer above the time line is so light that I can't read it! I tried adjusting my monitor settings, but still had no luck. Anyway to fix this for future vids John? Or am I the only one with this problem? My monitor is a bit old!

What would a jam session with Gordon Lightfoot, Collective Soul, and Damien Rice sound like?

Check out Greg Parke and you’ll have a pretty good idea!

Ok, I'm sitting here looking at the Google keyword tool, and I have been entering a bunch of potential keywords. In the upper left corner, in the "Tools" box, I noticed something called "traffic estimator". It requires you to enter a Maximum CPC and a Daily Budget, so I entered 0.01 for CPC and $1.00 for daily budget, because I don't really want to get into anything paid right now. When I click on "Estimate" it shows estimated global and local monthly searches.

I don't know if "traffic estimator" is something new, or if it is worth using, or useless for what I am trying to do?  I don't recall seeing anything about it in the monthly training on SEO

I narrowed things down to 5 keyword phrases and some results, including the results from the traffic estimator . I wanted to run the results by the forum to see if I am heading in the right direction or not.

Keyword 1. 171,000 search results, estimated global monthly searches:   590  estimated local monthly searches:     320

Keyword 2. 404,000                                                                         1,600                                                      880

Keyword 3. 463,000                                                                          3,600                                                  2,400

Keyword 4. 499,000                                                                          1,300                                                     880

Keyword 5. 47,500,000                                                                     90,500                                                40,500

4 out of the 5 keywords are pretty similar, the only difference between 3 and 4 was adding an "s" to make the word plural.

Keyword #3 looks to me to be the one to go for? The other sites that come up in a google search for that keyword really are not exactly what the keyword is about, and the 2nd search result is a Google site!

Keyword 5 was "Singer/Songwriter" and I pretty much expected those results. I was just curious to see how my other keywords would stack up.

Does it look like I am on the right track, or should I be looking for some different results? I am doing this SEO for my main website, http://www.gregparke.com

Hey Greg,

I believe the traffic estimator you are looking at is for PPC. It has nothing to do with SEO. It's how much traffic Google is suggesting you will get if you big a certain amount.

Again, if you're looking at what I think you're looking at.

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective? Click here to book a session with me now.

Thanks John, I'll just ignore the traffic estimator then. Still trying to figure out this SEO stuff.  Back to the video!
