Thanks John for another great lesson!

I'm definitely not an SEO expert, so there were parts of this lesson that I didn't understand completely (mainly the part about tiered linking). So, it'll require some more study on my part. I've written my own website and did what I could. I took a course a few years ago on website SEO to help me out. I'm currently ranking pretty well for some very niche key words.

Thanks for answering my question during the lesson! Looks like I need to do some guest blog posting. I've never done it before, so looks like I'm going to have to figure it out. I don't know much about it, but I'm guessing it involves writing articles for other websites. Let me know if that's right. Any tips on how to get that started would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

Hey Doug,

Glad you enjoyed the lesson.

Tiered linking is simply the act of building a link to your website from another web page, and then building more links to those links.

So in other words, you might have dougclyde.com with links pointing from a hub page, and then you would go out and build more links to those links. You could even go deeper and build links to that second tier of links if you wanted. But it's such a pain that typically you would outsource this if you were going to go very deep with this strategy.

As for guest blog posting, yes, it's pretty simple really. You just approach relevant websites and offer to contribute content free of charge. But like anything, they will need to see what's in it for them in order for anyone to be interested. There are also forurms and services out there that can help you connect with web masters looking for content.

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective? John,

I believe I understand tiered linking now. It's like a pyramid scheme. Funny that you should use dougclyde.com as an example, that was my first website domain name. Writing articles takes me awhile, so guest blogging might take me some time. But Looks like it'll be worth it. Thanks!

Keep in mind, you can easily outsource the articles. Let's say you paid someone $15 to write an article about music in video games... You could then approach blogs with the article and offer them the exclusive publication rights at no charge, so long as they offer an authors resource box, which you could craft into a tasteful call to action. Just a thought. You could do it for less, but it's important that the quality is there if you are going after real blogs that actually have a readership.

Is This strategy of tiered linking still works in 2015?
I have few articles which are ranking in top 10 but not in the top 3.
Should I use this tiered liking to my ranked articles?

Yes, tiered linking still works. But the biggest factor right now is getting a small number of good quality links rather than a lot of lower quality link pyramids. But building some pyramids to those already quality links can really help. Your best source for these links is guest blog posts. They can be purchased or you can go out and get them the old fashioned way by just reaching out to blogs and seeing fi they need any content.

Hey John,

Thanks for the reply. But guest blog posts seems to be really tough to get a Backlinks from authority sites. I don't know how to use myguestblog. I am little bit confused about them. How can I get bloggers who are looking for music related content.

One more thing, in this interview, seo expert said that Web 2.0 also have quality on it. Just like 5+ page rank is better. Yeah that's true. I did some posts on Web 2.0 and improved my search rankings from 3 page to second page even first page. But in my opinion only top results get most of the clicks. I am not ranking in top 3 results. That's why I am receiving less traffic but really high impressions everyday, I receive 40,000 impressions per month and only 200 website clicks according to Google analytics.

What is a tiered linking is like this -

1. I created blog post on my website, to promote this article I shared it to social media, relevant blog comments, posted it to the forums like Trance addict, few bookmarks and the last I created one more article and posted it on Web 2.0 property like WordPress which Google gave page rank 9.

2. Now the second step, I will take that Web 2.0 properties article and promote it as same I mentioned above. Now the real point is come here :
I took that 2nd tier article and and produced one more article to promote it. I wrote that article again on Web 2.0 property. But this time I took different source that is tumblr.

And this is where I get confused,, now I have 3 tier content still I promoted it as mentioned above. I wrote 4th article and to promote 3rd article. I posted it on blogger, which is Web 2.0 property as well. And did same things to this 4th article I mean 4th tier article. But this time I have not created 5th article cause seo expert mentioned above 4 tiered contest is the great one. so I stopped here.

Is it I am doing right here??

Hey Vishal,

To better understand myguestblog I would go to the site and read their tutorials or email them with specific questions.

But you can also reach out to sites independently. If you think you can offer a site well written, and valueble content, just find those sites and reach out to the editors, share a few examples of your writing, and ask if they might have any guest blogging opportunities. Explain that you are not looking for money but instead you just ask for an author byline with a link back to your site.

Typically Link Pyramids work like this... You create one piece of quality content on a site/page that you hope to have rank well in Google. You might then go and get either a guest blog post or create a web 2.0 property that links back to that original post. Then you could go out and get a much greater number of lower quality links (purely because they are easier to get) and link back to that second tier. These are usually more web 2.0 properties, article directories, forum links, profile links, bookmarks, etc. You could go even broader with a fourth tier if you wanted. Then you would repeat. The goal is to give more authority to that second tier of links that you have pointing back to your main web property.

But you should be aware that while it still works, it's also become fairly risky. Google is pretty good at spotting these unnatural patterns. I focus on paid advertising for the most part these days. But if I was to go after free traffic I would try to generate content that could drive traffic because of it's inherent quality, and then publish that content on sites that already do well in the SEPS. IE, Guest blog posts, Youtube, Pinterest, Q and A sites, and so forth. And I would tread lightly on boosting those pages with more links. But when something really needed some help I might do it. But my goal would be to drive traffic, knowing that there would be an SEO benefit as well, rather than just hoping to boost a site with links that in themselves are not likely to offer enough value to drive traffic.

Hope that helps.

Thanks John,

I am still little bit confused about tiered linking. You said giving more authority to that second tier link.

But is it graph of tiered linking is like this?

1. Main Blog post
/
2. First tiered link
/
3. Second tiered link
/
4. Third tiered linking
/
5. Fourth tiered link

I am saying that linking is it like this?

Creating a main blog post which I need to traffic from it then create a link to pointing to that main post then one more link pointing to that 1st tiered link, then again create another to point that 2nd tiered link. now I have 3rd tiered link, again create a link point to that 3rd tiered link. Now I have 4th tiered link which is now enough now.

Or that graph look like this

1. Main Blog post
/
2. First tiered link
/ | /
3. 2nd link 4. 3rd link 5. 4th link

Well I am bad at graphics. Please don't laugh on this hahaha. Just kidding. Laugh

Hi Vishal,

A link pyramid works like this...

You create some keyword targeted content on a page of your site that you hope to have rank well in Google. Then you create a number of high quality 1st tier links. These could be guest blog posts, Youtube videos, web 2.0 properties that you put a lot of time into, etc.

Then you create a second tier of links that point to the first tier of quality links. The second tier tends to be higher in volume but lower in quality.

The third tier points to the second and so forth. Each tier points to the preceding tier to give it more power.

Hope that clears it up.

Yeah now I understand this process. Thank you so much for the support john.
I did that process you mentioned above. I have improved my position from number 13 to number 7 within 36 hours. That's huge bump. Let see how much time it will take to rank number one. Can I rank number one using this strategy?

Great. That's a big jump so quickly. You can absolutely use this strategy to get a site to clime to #1 in Google. But it depends on the keyword and a whole host of other factors.

Let us know how it goes...

Hey John,

Thanks for the support.

I have compiled a list of guest blogging sites. 7 months ago I was unable to write good quality articles but these days I can provide quality articles to any blogs. just let me know how to approach these websites. I mean do you have any email swipe file to match my tone to approach these sites? I am gonna write an article on Forbes, contact music, pop sugar like these websites. I have waited so long to see my articles on number one spot.
How can I rank YouTube videos in Google? How much time it will take to rank a YouTube video in Google?

Can I rank any video on YouTube?

Suppose I chose a keyword which has search volume of 90,000 per month. can I rank for this?

Hi Vishal,

I don't have any specific swipe file for you, but all you are doing is essentially contacting these sites and saying something along these lines...

Hi (name),

I'm a big fan of (site name). I really loved your recent article on (name an article they recently published). It really (now tell them why you liked the article).

I'm also reaching out because I'm a freelance writer in (name the same niche/genre/market that the site is in). I thought I'd see if you needed any guest blog posts for your site. I'm not looking for any compensation. I'd just like to contribute to the site because I appreciate what you guys are doing. The only thing I ask for is an author byline with a link back to my site.

I've attached a few sample articles of some of my work. Let me know if you'd like me to submit something for consideration on (name the site again).

Thanks and all the best,

(your name).

Hey John,

I bought a fiverr gig for guest blogging. I am not able to do guest blogging and that's why i bought fiverr gig. A guy who is going to link my website to a PR9, DA40+ site.

Do i need to build tier links for this guest blogging or do nothing to this guest post for ranking higher in Google?

Posirank is so costly i cant afford to pay $420 for a guest link. As compared to fiverr, it is only $5.

Can I buy guest blogging from fiverr in future? Is it low quality link compared to Posirank? I have seen all reviews from other buyers before buying my gig, he was awesome! He has received 99% positive reviews and more than 12000 buyers. He is going to guest blog on music related sites.

I wanna outsource this thing John, Where I can buy guest Blogging links with DA40+ and Link pyramids rather than Posirank which is way too costly?

There are some fiverr gigs too. who are offering link pyramids. Can I use them?

Thanks for the support John.

Hi Vishal,

SEO using Fiverr gigs is a pretty tough thing to do. It's possible, but less likely than it is likely. All you can do is experiment. But understand that there is risk involved with SEO, especially when using low quality links like those you find on fiverr.

My concern for you is that you are attempting to use SEO because the ads are not working for you. But if the ads are not working then SEO won't likely work either. Not on any real scale. I think the issue is your targeting, and your copy, more than it is the effectiveness of ads over SEO. Hope that makes sense.

Hey John,

I am receiving traffic from search engines as well as few subscribers too. I think SEO might be tough and risky but its a free traffic. One of my articles which ranked at number 3 in Google using tiered linking strategy. I am receiving more than 300 clicks monthly by ranking only one or two articles. But it becomes so time consuming to make those tiered links. That's why i wanna outsource this process. I wanna rank more than 100 articles at top 3 in google. I want 2000 to 3000 daily visitors to my site. I think SEO will help me for this.

I am going to experiment with fiverr links, if it works then i will outsource it from there. John I want FREE traffic, paid ads simply don't work for me. I will do paid advertising in future but now it is not possible for me. In the insider circle, there are so few lessons about free traffic. Those lessons have become too old now. Twitter is now best working free traffic strategy for me but my accounts get suspended by twitter thats why no new subscribers.

Is it possible to drive Free traffic from facebook, pinterest, google+, youtube and tumblr? Because youtube and pinterest lessons are old now. Can you please update those lessons?

I will definitely work with facebook ads in future.

Thanks for the support John.

Hi Vishal,

I don't focus much on SEO these days, or free traffic in general, because it's quite time consuming, and not scalable or predictable, like paid advertising is. That said, it can definitely be done. Fiverr links are very risky. But if you are just trying to rank 3rd party web pages then there is nothing wrong with experimenting a bit. The worst that will happen is that your page will be penalized and drop back in the search engines. But if it's not your own website then it really doesn't matter. The principles of SEO haven't changed that much from last year's interview with Mike Kim from Posirank. It boils down to getting a few quality backlinks, rather than a lot of low quality links. But with certain sites (Like Youtube) you can get away with lower quality links, at least for the moment.

A word of caution though, if you can't make paid advertising convert, free traffic won't likely convert well either. The problems you are having with paid advertising have to do with your squeeze page and your targeting. Those elements are still in play with free traffic. Good luck with everything though.

Hey John,

Thanks for the reply.

I worked for a real estate company in Pune, India. I used Facebook advertisement for their business. Surprise surprise.... They got few Subscribers from there. As well as they sold a $30,000 Na Plot. I did send traffic to their website from fb ads. I didn't used conversion bidding. I again started advertising to my squeeze page but still no conversion at all. I think I need some help from you to write a squeeze page in American English. Well, paid ads will be better cause they are cheap and affordable, no need work on traffic set and forget. I need to create a profitable funnel. Till then I am waiting for your reply.

Thanks for the enormous support John.
