Squeeze Page Bootcamp - 2017

With so many new members in the Insider Circle members area I thought it would be fun to hold another "Squeeze Page Bootcamp".

That means that for this month's lesson you are invited to submit your primary squeeze page URL and I will review your page, and record it and share my review in the next Insider Circle lesson.

This will not only be valuable for those whose pages are reviewed, but it should also address important issues that others may not have thought to ask. These kind of rapid fire, over-the-shoulder, sessions really help strengthen your copywriting instincts.

Here's what you need to do...

  • Post the URL to your squeeze page below.
  • Along with the URL I want you to tell me your primary target audience, age range, and location. Please do not post dozens of potential target audiences. Just your top one or two ideal audiences. The people who you think should be a slam dunk.

Here's what you need to know...

  • Reviews will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and I can only guarantee that I can review the first 10 pages to be submitted. If I can review more I will, but in order to insure that I can fit everything in I am "officially" limiting this to 10 reviews. But if demand is high enough I may split this into two lessons, so feel free to submit your URL even if you are not one of the first 10.
  • IMPORTANT: It is important to be aware that I am going to be offering constructive criticism in this lesson and as such, much of what I say may not be what everyone wants to hear. I will certainly endeavour to be kind and gentle, but I don't think anyone is served if I pull any punches. So if you have thin skin, or are not comfortable with your squeeze page being shared and discussed in that context, then I would not submit your URL for this exercise.
  • It does not matter if your site is doing bad or good. This is a chance for you to get some additional perspective on your site.
  • I will be recording the video soon so be sure and submit your url as soon as possible.

This should be a lot of fun. Thanks for being part of the lesson.

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective? Click here to book a session with me now.

Hi John,

I couldn't help but jump on this chance! Thank you for offering this opportunity!

Heres' my primary squeeze page for MUSIC.

And here's the SOFT squeeze page:

My primary target audience, (which I derived from a ReverbNation feedback review I did recently):

  • Male & Female (although it seemed that more females appreciated my sound)
  • 35 - 44 years old
  • Musical Interests are primarily Christian / Country
  • They primarily like the 'happy' and 'positive' aspect of my music
  • They are consumers of motivational speaking products, such as Les Brown, Tony Robbins, etc.

I mentioned that this is the MUSIC squeeze page because I plan to sell my books (motivation) and marketing (training & practice) elsewhere.

Thanks,

Dr. PelèSmile

Hi John,

This is cool and I'm going to jump on it as well.  Coincidentally, I was up working on an additional blog post with the aim of pushing the two campaign blog posts off my front page.  I registered for MMM 3.0 about 6 months before you put out 4.0, so I've been working on this for some time but haven't taken it public yet.

Here's the soft squeeze page:

http://www.doubleeyelidmusic.c.....le-eyelid/

Hard one:

http://www.doubleeyelidmusic.c.....freemusic/

Re: targeting.  The best thing I can tell you is that it was your interview with New Jacobin Club that got me off the fence when it came to purchasing your course.  We're not exactly like them but we're close enough to them that I'd heard of them before (and who knows, they may have heard of us).

Our music, however, is much different - there's no metal influence, we are marketing to a goth audience who is into bands like The Cure, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Joy Division and newer artists like London After Midnight.

EDIT:  If it helps to simplify the target audience, a good one is US-based London After Midnight fans aged 25-55.

The audience is men, women and transgendered people from 28-55; most tend to be in the 30s-40s age range.  For locations, other than Canada and the US I usually target the UK and Germany, as well as Belgium where we have had some exposure and press but that is more of a 'micro-targeting' thing since it's so small.

I'm very interested in your feedback so thanks for offering this opportunity.  Feel free to look at my two blog posts that are based on your 'blog post of a lifetime' and 'building social proof' posts as well.  I found writing those to be a very interesting process that made me think deeply about how to adapt your ideas into a solid way to present my project.

best

Ian

Hi John, thank you for the opportunity.

I'm right now taking the MMM 4.0 so I will definitely come up with a new squeeze page but It would be great to get feedback on this one so I can start steering my ship in the right direction.

This is my squeeze page, I currently have it on my facebook artist page signup and my website. Still working on a Facebook AD for that but it will probably change after I get through the MMM 4.0 course.

https://gabrielsantiago.lpages.....ree-music/

My niche is Brazilian Jazz.

My avatar:

—>35-55 years old

—>Male

—>Married

—>Loves music making because it brings balance to their life, having an engaging hobby to relax and unwind.

Hi John,

this is great, thanks for the opportunity!

My URL is:

  • mynorthernskymusic.com

My initial target auidence is:

  • Males
  • 35 – 44 years old
  • Musical genres are a fusion of electronica, soundtrack, singer-songwriter and chill-out
  • Musical Interests: Sigur Ros, Cinematic Orchestra, Moby, Thomas Newman

I will need to run a number of different targeted facebook campaigns as my debut album is written like a soundtrack to a film with a mix of instrumentals and songs which cross a mix of genres - from electronica to classical piano to singer-songwriter. It all works seamlessly as an album but targeting a specific audience is rather difficult!

Thanks again!

Christopher

Hi John

What a fantastic opportunity, especially as we've just redesigned the squeeze pages we're using.

Here's the URL

http://www.angrybaby.co.uk/mee.....beth-ford/

The target audience for this artist is:

Male and Female

Age 35 - 64

Genres folk-pop and classical-crossover

Interested in Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan and Eva Cassidy (but associated artists and records eg Fleetwood Mac and the song Gypsy)

We've recently run a Facebook ad campaign to this squeeze page and have achieved two sales.

Thanks - look forward to your feedback.

Hi John,

Thanks for the chance for feedback! I haven't implemented all of MMM4 yet so this isn't "live" but feedback on my first attempt at my squeezepage would be awesome!

It is:

http://www.ipleadironymusic.co.....ree-music/

My primary target audience is:

Age: 25-55
Location: USA/Canada/Australia/New Zealand
Fans of Foo Fighters/Billy Talent/Biffy Clyro

I was planning to have a separate Campaign/Squeeze page for English speaking people in UK and Europe with the same age and interests but the wording would be slightly different.

Thanks again for the chance of feedback. Loving the course!

Rauf

Tell me who my band sounds like! :)

Hi John

Thought I'd join the queue here.

I haven't launched our site yet but just need to finish the upset page then we're off - I expect to be trialling next week so feedback at this stage would be great.

The page is: http://www.parentmusic.com

Many thanks

Hi John,

Same deal here. Still linking together all of the moving parts...so this hasn't been put into action yet. Any feedback before I start sending traffic here would be great.

http://www.thehostiles.com

We are a ska/punk band based in Scotland. Our primary target audience is:

Age: 16-40
Location: UK/USA/Canada/Australia etc. (basically any English speaking country with a notable market for ska/punk)
Fans of Reel Big Fish/Less Than Jake/Goldfinger

I'll initially be basing ads in areas that we gig/intend to gig, tailoring them specifically for whatever area we're targeting.

I look forward to hearing the lesson.

Thanks

Josh

Thanks, John!

Here is our squeeze page:

http://www.elmtreasonmusic.com/freemusic

Our primary target audience:

  • 30 – 65 years old
  • Acoustic Guitar-based rock music with an edge
  • New York City area
  • Two types of fans have proven to be most receptive: 1. Fans of Classic rock bands/artists such as Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zeppelin .... 2. Singer-Songwriter/Indie-Folksy Type stuff: Simon and Garfunkel, Mumford and Sons. We present ourselves as "re-imagining" or "re-inventing" acoustic rock as we know it. And since there isn't really a "genre" for just acoustic rock, we have been targeting those who would be most receptive to what we do had this music been arranged with more traditional electric guitars. Honestly, we've had a hard time, even after enlisting the assistance of fans, to classify what our "style" is and what genre we fall into.

We're re-doing our entire email chain, so the funnel is still "under construction," but the squeeze page is, as of right now, finished.

Thank you much!

Andy

Hi John.

I love this idea.

Here's my squeeze page:

http://www.earlmacdonaldmusic.com

I'm a jazz artist and music educator.  Jazz fans are predominantly males. I work a lot with college students, but at gigs there are mostly grey haired folks in the audience. I think my music is purchased mostly by educated musicians, and dedicated, older jazz fans who are "in the know."
