Hi John,
Great lesson, thank you!
I'm new here and now that I've learned what you said about streaming, ie. be careful how much you make available on these platforms - I realize I should probably take a bunch of stuff down, since I have EVERYTHING up for streaming (via CD Baby, I hope they'll allow me to make changes, I'll ask them).
Anyway - how many tracks per album would you recommend I keep on these platforms?
I'm guessing keep the strongest, most popular songs up, as to hopefully generate more interest in the stuff they can't stream?
Thanks in advance!
Mira
Hi Mira,
They will definitely let you take stuff down so that's not an issue.
How many songs really depends on you, your genre, and how much activity those tracks are getting. Are you making any money from streaming? And if so, what percentage of your songs are making what percentage of your total income?
The biggest factor is just that if you are going to embrace a sales model, then you don't want to release so much f your music that no one will buy it. Generally 2 or 3 tracks is optimal, in my opinion.
Glad you enjoyed the lesson 🙂
