Hi John and Co.

I've been using the twitter strategy for a couple of weeks, and got some pretty encouraging results first of all. I even got my squeeze page converting at about 24% for a couple of days (not as high as it should be I know, but this is my first real attempt at traffic generation so I'm happy that the page is converting at all 🙂 Even had a couple of album sales via the sales funnel (but I know the people who bought them so can't really count them as proper stats 🙂

Probably wouldn't have got anything like these results without following John's advice about changes I should probably make to my original squeeze page - so, if you're reading this - many thanks, John!

I've been using crowdfire to follow a few hundred people a day and to send automated direct messages to those that follow me back (averages at about 20 people a day refollowing) I've checked all the messages are getting through as I had a few blocked early on due to the URL. I've been getting about 6 visits to the page (but had 11 visits and got 3 subscribers on one day - which was great)

I'm using - laterbro - to schedule tweets of interesting content/links throughout the week, and people are interacting with those tweets (favouriting/retweeting etc.) I've also put a call to action on the bottom of those tweets.

This may be helpful to some of the other IC members as I know some people have been getting direct messages with URL's blocked, but I've found that if you let crowdfire automate the messages they eventually get through - it looks like twitter places a temporary block after about 5 messages containing URL's then removes the block after a short period of time (don't know how long - maybe an hour or two) It also looks like crowdfire resends any messages that initially get blocked as all of mine are eventually getting through.

All of this could just be specific to my account, but worth trying if you're having problems sending direct messages.

Unfortunately, I now seem to have hit a bit of a wall where subscribers are concerned. My last one was on Sunday afternoon, I've been getting the same average amount of followers and visits to the page but conversions have just stopped dead.

Would be very grateful if I could get some feedback re: the content I'm using and some advice re: tweaks or what could suddenly be going so wrong. I contacted aweber and ran tests on the website but it all came up clear.

Some background and demographic info. I'm currently specifically targeting - Boards of Canada fans. They write mellow, trippy electronica with elements of hip hop and are strongly identified with Nature, Psychedelia and 70's/80's Nostalgia - hence the wording on the squeeze page. I've also tried to create a few images in a similar vein (filtered, aged, diffuse)

Here's the original squeeze page - (was converting until sunday)

http://www.studholmemusic.com/

I altered a few bits yesterday and so this is the new squeeze page - (changed the headline, some of the wording and added a message about spam at the bottom)

http://www.studholmemusic.com/.....c-twitter/

Probably too soon to tell if the changes are making a big difference but 8 visits today and no new subscribers.

Also here's my twitter feed -

and here's a few example direct messages -

Hi. Nice to meet you, if you're into weird and wonderful electronica then please stop by at - http://bit.ly/1LnZsON

Nice to meet you. If you're craving a psychedelic experience - You might consider dropping by at - http://www.studholmemusic.com/.....c-twitter/

Great to meet you. here's a free download if you'd like to listen to my music http://bit.ly/1LnZsON

Thanks in advance

Hey Nick,

It's great to hear you've been seeing conversions. 24% is not bad at all. And that's a great tip about overcoming the direct message block.

As for the subscribers slowing down. It's a bit hard to say. My guess is that it's just a statistical fluke. If you're only seeing single digit traffic each day it may just be a bad run. It can be like playing roulette. Statistically black will come up 50% of the time. But that doesn't mean you don't have these crazy runs where red comes up 40 times in a row. Mix in the fact that certain days perform worse typically (weekends for example) and it might just be a slump that will correct itself.

If it doesn't then it's really hard to say. I'd probably start by switching up a variable in your targeting. If you are targeting fans of specific artists who meet a set of criteria, I would try keeping the criteria but target fans of a different artist and see if that fixes things. All you can do is follow  process of elimination. But make sure you have statistical significance before changing course. 100 clicks is a good number to achieve before making any decisions. That said, there are times when things are doing so poorly out of the gate that you can kill an approach early.

Let us know how you make out with whatever you end up doing.

Thanks John

Wise words as always. Will ride it out for now (have probably seen about 60 clicks so far) I've got other bands which fit my M.O. so will try them next.

Cheers

Nick

Hey John

Would you advise that when you go to copy followers that you do it for one twitter account rather than combining a number of twitter accounts>

Crowdfire allows you to add many accounts of people who you want to copy followers of so you could copy followers of many accounts at the same time.

Hope that makes sense?

Hey Segge,

I think either approach would be fine. I think the reason I like a single account is so that I can keep track of what accounts I've hit and how each one is performing. But I don't think you can go too wrong either way.

Hey John, Nick and Co

Been using the Twitter strategy and having about the same sort of results after following 200 a day

     * Aprox 20 refollowing

     * 6-8 visits on my page

     *only 2 subscribers so far

What I havent done is posted content every day which I am sure will make a big difference

Hey Segge,

While the traffic may not be flooding in, those conversion numbers are 25% - 33% which is very strong. I stay away from strategies like this because they are not scalable. But for musicians on a budget this is a great alternative to the $5 ad campaign. Will be interesting to see how that works for you in the long run. Keep us posted.
