Cool, looking forward to seeing if anything comes of it. I was encouraged by the fact that you saw a jump. A beer is on me 🙂

Hey Mike,I just checked out your rankings and it looks like you are still climbing.
You are now at #5 for "Tom Petty Refugee" in Google video.
#17 in Youtube for "Tom Petty Refugee".
and #7 in Youtube for "tom petty refugee cover" which is above the fold, so that's cool.
The traffic is still slow so that means you will need to rank higher to get the traffic on this, but I think the movement is cool to see. #5 in Google video kind of surprised me. That's not bad for a keyword like Tom Petty Refugee.
Can I convince you to throw that article pack at it? I'll happily pay for it. I just want to see what impact it has.
Hey Mike,
Just checked your rankings on this. Looks like everything has improved, including your views.
You are now at #4 for "Tom Petty Refugee" in Google video. That's up one spot and the only three videos ahead of you are actually of Tom Petty. Pretty cool.
#10 in Youtube for "Tom Petty Refugee". Up 7 spots.
and #6 in Youtube for "tom petty refugee cover" up 1 spot.
Views are up approx 40% as well. The traffic is obviously small, so it's not a huge "win" yet. But I think that's pretty cool to see you creeping up towards the top and to see how mechanically this actually works. I'd be interested to see what more could be done with another link pack or two. Time should also help.

Hey John:
Â
Thanks for the update - I've been on vacation and haven't looked. That's cool to see some improvement. I'll report back if there are any future changes, or if I point any more links to the video.

So far, though, the video seems to be proving your point about low conversion from YT viewers. I've had 579 views as of this morning, and have not had any visits to my linked squeeze page yet. Given the relative difficulty of making a video (compared to, say, article marketing), I think I'll focus on other types of traffic for a while.

Cool. And yeah, it's true. My experience is that click throughs are low with youtube. But that can depend a lot on your call to action. Your video itself only has that one call to action at the end. the majority of people don't make it that far even on the best videos. So adding a call to action in the beginning or even possibly along the bottom of the entire thing can help. Or at the very least with annotations.
But even then, I personally think text based content performs better.
But there is still something to be said for video exposure. I'm not generally a fan of simply getting "exposure". But getting your face, name, and music, in front of a lot of people is a good thing regardless of the direct sales. It may simply be that you use this tactic selectively when you have videos to create for your lists anyway. As apposed to traffic.
