Hey John,
I've read a lot about the idea of running quarterly promotions.
How do we run them and what are we promoting?
My plan for what I'm promoting so far is:
2018 Q4: My classical crossover album. My list has been for a heavy metal album, so I'm not sure how much crossover there will be with the two audiences. I can tell from my Instagram that "metal people" are interested in the classical crossover (I post metal and classical on there)
2019 Q1: Release a new t shirt design to promote in addition to my current one, so a two t shirt bundle
2019 Q2: I've had an idea for some custom silver rings that I want to try out... I think they would hit my market right on the head, very high profit potential, but would have to be careful to get this just right.
2019 Q3: I'd like to crowd fund my next metal record
Question 1: Am I promoting the right "sorts" of things (in this case, merch and other music I have recorded)? Should I be promoting these as a bundle, or with a LTO style offer: 20% off, free shipping etc?
Question 2: How do we promote them? I was thinking of:
Should the emails we send out link to the promotion in the "PS" section, or should the promotion be only mentioned in the blog post and never in the blog post emails?
Thanks!
Hey Sam,
You can really promote just about anything. The biggest key is just to make sure that it's something your fans will really care about, and see as an extension of your brand. For example, the rings are a cool idea if they are somehow connected to you and your brand. I see it as risky if you are just selling rings because metal fans like rings. You could still possibly pull it off, but that's touchy. But I do see how it could work.
I created a lesson on this which I think will be helpful. Let me know if you still have questions after watching it: https://www.mmmanifesto.com/in.....romotions/

Thanks John - I'll watch that this week!
Sounds good.

Thanks for the video recommendation - it explained everything perfectly!
When it comes to the nuts and bolts with AWeber, how do I send a broadcast to people who have completed my funnel? I don't want to send my first broadcast to people still in the funnel, or am I over thinking this, and it doesn't matter if I broadcast to people in the funnel?
Thanks
No, you definitely do not want to broadcast to people still in the funnel. How you do this depends on if you are using the legacy follow up series or campaigns.
If it is the legacy follow up series you would just create a segment by going to subscribers and then searching for subscribers for whom the last email received was #7 (or whatever your last email number is). Then name and save the segment. Then when you broadcast you just send to that segment.
However, the rule will carry over to any lists attached. So if you have other lists such as customer lists, that don't have 7 emails in their follow up series', then you will want to send those out separately.
If you are using campaigns then you will want to add a wait block of a few days to your campaign, and then add a tag block that tags everyone with a "followup_completed tag, or something to that effect. Then you would create a segment of people with that tag and email just them. Or you could set it up differently where you remove the main_funnel tag (or whatever you named it) when someone completes the funnel and set up a segment that contains everyone BUT those people. Then only include them in future broadcasts.
Is this confusing? Let me know if you think this is worthy of a future lesson.

that makes sense - thanks!
It might be worth a future lesson - I think if someone is new to AWeber they won't figure that out by themselves
Ok, thanks Sam.
