This is way too cool! I didn't even know about Article Marketing until I took MMM 2.0. I was surfing the net this morning and found an article that someone had written.....about me! I'm sure it was just by chance that they found me, and they most likely did the same with many other musicians to help promote their own site, but it was very obvious they had done exactly what MMM 2.0 talks about. The article was simply a re-written version of my bio and info pulled from CD Baby. Not quite the same as getting on the cover of Rolling Stone, but I got a kick out of it.

I was wondering if any one has any suggestions as to how I might use something like this to my advantage? Is there anything out there that might track this sort of thing? Would I need to get the "authors" permission to make any references to being written about in his article? I'm still so green at all these markeing possibilities and I don't want to miss out on an opportunity that I may be unaware of.

What would a jam session with Gordon Lightfoot, Collective Soul, and Damien Rice sound like?

Check out Greg Parke and you’ll have a pretty good idea!

Greg,

Very cool man.  You're like... famous 🙂

Sounds like you're looking for something monitor your reputation online.

I'm not sure of the specifics, but I think you can set up something inside of an rss reader (google reader) to sort of be a catch all for anything that shows up on the interwebs about you.

Unfortunatley I'm not sure of the specifics ( "I don't give a damn about my bad reputation!" Cool), but that should give you a starting place to find answers.

Yeah, I must be famous all right. But don't worry, I'll still talk to you guys!

But seriously.....I did sign up for Google alerts, and from time to time I do get some pretty interesting notifications, but this one just showed up with no alerts. (So much for being famous!) Every few months I do a Google search of my name just to make sure there's nothing out there that I need to take care of, or something I can possibly use. This is the first time I found something like this that was completely unexpected.  The chances of this happening are probably right up there with the "needle in the haystack" theory, but if there is something I should do to capitalize on it, I don't want to lose it! But if there isn't, well, maybe I'll just write a song about it. Yeah, that's the ticket!

That's awesome Greg. Maybe check your alerts and see if you ticked the box that says something like "send me everything", I think the default is "send me just the good stuff".
