I'm not doing anything special at all. I just checked every single one of my client's emails as well and all of their unsubscribe links are centered. We are all using my MMM email template but as far as I know that doesn't impact the unsubscribe link. Here's the lesson on that: https://www.mmmanifesto.com/in.....-template/
But it sounds to me like you may have just gotten unlucky with the support person you spoke to.
