Hi everyone, I'm getting ready to launch my first album, and I wrote up this press release (based on John's example). I would like your feedback on it, as well as on the distribution method. When I told my PR-woman friend that I planned to use PRWeb, she said it would be a waste of money, and instead to target people directly. My concern is that I don't really have the time for that, especially considering the album release is so soon! What do you think?

Music Producer and DJ Paul Loeb to Release Debut Studio Album

Acclaimed music producer and DJ, Paul Loeb, is pleased to announce the release of his very first full-length studio album titled, “Let The Music Come To Me” – available worldwide March 13, 2012.

Hollywood, CA - Music producer and DJ Paul Loeb – who has received praise from the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Roger Sanchez, Judge Jules, Mike Rizzo, and Larry Tee of Ultra – will be shattering sound systems around the globe with his very own debut studio album titled, “Let The Music Come To Me.”

Loeb’s release is not your typical dance floor ho-hum. The album is an intelligent combination of fresh, sexy beats and captivating rhythms that catapults the listener to their very own private dance party.

Lyrics like, “Watcha wanna do, boy if you only knew”, seem to have already caught the attention of listeners around the world.

Half of the tracks are solo originals, and the other half are collaborations with featured artists like Grammy Award nominee KT Tunstall, Grammy Award-winning composer Eric Whitacre, and Billboard Top 40 Dance Artist Kelsey B. On working with Eric Whitacre, one of the highlights of his career so far, Paul said, “He got back to me the same day, said he checked out my music and loved it, and to proceed!”

From now until May 1 (Paul’s birthday), he will be giving away the first single for free on his website at http://www.PaulLoeb.net. “It’s not about the money”, said Paul. “It’s a track I’m really proud of and I’m excited to share it with the world. Sure the lyrics and beat have a sense of humor, but there is also some very edgy and musical stuff there.”

House music fans can get a free copy of “BASS 2012” - the electro smash hit from Paul’s new album at http://www.PaulLoeb.net.

What keywords are you targeting? I can't tell what they are.

Good point that a few of my friends made as well. Try this updated version:

I think you should change "House music" fans to "Electro pop" fans. You are also allowed
one anchor-text link which you could include this way:

"He checked out my (make this phrase a link to your site) -> 'eletcro pop' music and loved it!"

Hope this helps Smile

Perhaps you should have a few of your press quotes in the Press release too? Also I just downloaded the track there and all went perfectly.

I was just thinking that it would be a good idea to get more specific about the surprizes to entice people more.

For those who sign up NOW, I have some special surprises up my sleeve that you won’t want to miss! I wish I could tell you what they are, but I can’t - and they will go away soon! Just enter your name and email address on the right side of this page.

Good luck with it!

Hey Paul,

The majority of the potential with a press release service like PR web is the search engine exposure (directly to fans) and the backlink value you will get from it. Though getting the attention of journalists is not unheard of at all (according to several interviews I did with PR services, PR web being one of them).

The thing that most publicists don't have any idea about is keyword research. They usually just write impressive press releases and then don't see any results. A press release is effectively just like having an authority article on the web. If you target the right keywords you stand a chance of attracting both new fans and journalists. But you need to ask yourself what keywords would these potential fans or journalists be searching for. You might listen to the Interview in the Insider Interviews section with one of the owners of Online PR News. She talks about this a bit.

However if reviews are what you are after, in my opinion it would be a mistake to omit approaching journalists one on one as that will usually do far better as far as reviews or feature articles go.

If time is of the essence you might consider outsourcing it. You could simply write the pitch letter, buy Indie Bible and then pay someone to spend half a day emailing everyone under the sun.

But think of an online press release as a form of advertising and always know that there is a risk involved.

Thanks for the good feedback. I ended up going with the PRWeb $200 package with a $50 coupon so it was $150, in addition to mailing about 500 individual contacts with personalized mail merge. I'll let you know how it goes!

Sounds good. Maybe post that coupon code if it's transferable. I'm sure others could use it. Thanks Paul.
