I've been running split tests on my landing pages the last couple of weeks.
Last week I had a variation consistently hit 30%. This week, I start testing that page against a new variation, and the conversion has dropped do roughly 20%.
I wondered, as FB ads sends traffic to my website, the FB algorithm doesn't know I am split testing, and it can't tell which page variations I am sending traffic to, is the FB algorithm getting confused and sending me more mediocre traffic than it could be?
Or is this just a variation across the weeks that is to be expected?
Thanks!
Hey Sam,
Facebook is just honing in on an audience that converts, so that shouldn't effect things enough to throw off your test.
It really depends how many visitors you have. If you are talking about 20 people, that kind of swing is normal. If you are talking about 100 people or more, that kind of swing is a solid indicator that the changes you made have not improved things. But you also want to make sure that you had enough people go to the page before you considered that 30% to be solid. It is not uncommon for a page to start off strong and then drop off a little as stats normalize.
But it sounds a little more like whatever changes you made hurt the page and you should revert back or test something else.
