Hi John,
I got an email about a facebook app review that needs to done by August 2018. Have you heard anything about this? I tried submitting but wasn't quite sure what i was doing. Thought i'd ask you first. Thanks,Claire
Hi Claire,
Yes, many old apps are requiring updates because of the recent changes to Facebook's privacy policy.
I'm not sure what your app is or what it is requiring so it's hard to advice, but it should not be too complex.
My guess is that this is related to Facebook Comments. The instructions should be in the email, but if not, you may need to contact FB support if you can't figure it out. I have only had that happen for old apps that am no longer using so I have not had to go through the app update process.
Let me know if you;re still lost after contacting FB.

Hi John,
Thanks for your message. I'll contact fb support and see what they reckon. I have another question also. With the General Data Protection Regulations that come into force on May 25th,does that include us? And if so,do we just send an email asking people to confirm they want to stay on the list? I am a little concerned i may lose half my subscribers:(
Thanks,
Claire
Hey Claire,
This is one of those slightly complex issues where depending on who you ask, you will get a different answer. Many feel this is a non issue and despite all the activity and discussion taking place right now it will change almost nothing aside from how large companies store data. Others feel it will have a big impact.
I am not a lawyer and need to cover my but by saying if you are concerned you may want to talk to a lawyer who is qualified to advise you on these things.
My understanding is that for what we do these GDPR changes mean very little. Services like Aweber and Paypal are already compliant and they are who store and pass your info. But other things like tracking scripts and plugins factor in as well. From what I understand a few small changes to your privacy policy should be all you need.
Here is a GDPR privacy policy generator: https://dsgvo-muster-datenschu.....e/?lang=en
But personally, I am not concerned about these new regulations at all.
But keep in mind, I am not a lawyer 🙂
