... NOT!
YouTube just removed a bunch of videos (other people's -- not mine!) with a rather lame explanation:
This was not a bug or a security breach. This was an enforcement of our viewcount policy. To read more about YouTube's stance on viewcount gaming, please see here: http://youtubecreator.blogspot.....vices.html
Wow, so were you using bots to raise your view count?
I generally don't do that because it can hurt the quality score of a video as that traffic is only there for a few seconds and then clicks away. But it's handy when you need to make a good impression with a video and don't want the first visitors to see a single digit view count. And like you say, the competition knock out ramifications of that are kind of huge.
Thanks for sharing.

Just read that thread. Man...
My favorite: "Same thing just happened to me. Someone actually was able to send a ton of fake views to my account on a video I created about why you shouldn't buy fake views. So they got away with it and now I'm about to lose my account. It seems that no one's account is safe as anyone can hack into it and do whatever they want in there."

No, I'm not doing that. I just heard that YouTube is cracking down on various things, and I thought, "Wow...that looks familiar."
Ah, I see. I wasn't clear if you started that Google thread or not. Definitely good to be aware of. Thanks.
