Maybe we can just get your buddies and my cousin in a room to bounce ideas off one another and just sort of be a fly on the wall.  Shut up and listen sort of thing 🙂

I would really love someone doing a music-video for me. I'm busy making music and doing this marketing as it is... Any ideas on that? How to get someone to do this for you without spending (too much)? Maybe good for starting animators to have an "official" video in their portfolio. Or make it sound cool: "This is your chance to use my music in your video!" or have a contest maybe? Anyone knows if this might work or where / how to generate these kind of synergies?

My brother, who lives in Los Angeles is a talented 3-D animator.  He's worked for Jim Henson Studios and some others.

Not sure what kind of concept you were thinking of, but he's good.  PM me if you want to contact him.

In fact, if you've ever seen the BluRay version of Marky Mark's "Planet of the Apes", he did the menu scenes for the disc.

I hired someone to make an animated music video for me on scriptlance.com for $300. Truth be told, he did about 90% of it and then flaked. But I never had to pay him or anything. But he was just one of a number of people who bid on the project. Posting some low ball job offers on a freelance network like that might get you somewhere. It's a crap shoot when you don't offer a lot of pay, but I go into it assuming I'm going to need to have a couple guys do the same job to get what I need. At the end of the day it's still pretty cheap. You also never know where Craigslist might get you if you posted a job for animators or visual artists. Offer $150 and guaranteed exposure and see what happens.

That sounds great! Might work out if he has any feeling with the music. I haven't thought about a concept yet yhough, I guess this is also part of the animators creative process or ideas they might have... You could send me his email to info@japjap.net or send him to japjap.net and ask him if he would be inspired to do something on this genre.

Sure man!   If he's got the time I'm sure he'd be up for it.  I'll get him in touch with you.

Jasper,

I just sent him an email with your info.  I'm not sure what his current schedule is like, but I'm sure he will be in touch shortly.  He has a bunch of friends in film, so if he needs to put a team together for your project, he should be able to stack some talent in there for you.

That really would be cool.  I am trained in graphic design, so I've brought some of those sensibilities to my video (that's almost done), but I'd love to hear someone who's got some viral impact happening!

I know the Presidents Of The United States did that one video with just a phone...but the vibe of it was so cool that it got them a fair buzz...so it's not like you 'need' a ton of gear, software, etc.

I'll get my video uploaded over the next few days and submit it here or in another thread to see what people think.  I just tend to think that video could be a massive catalyst for traffic...I mean if a dramatic hamster can go viral, then some of us must have a shot... 🙂

I would be very interested in learning more about how to promote with videos.

Thanks Roger,

I'm hearing this a lot so I'm definitely going to put it on the list. Membership site training is slated for this coming month but I'll see what I can come up with for video marketing a little down the line.
