I got an email back from the Virgin Mary today. I know because she identified herself. I was feeling pretty good until Kat told me who was on her mailing list. And now I'm starting to get suspicious of Mary because, although she immaculately conceived, she can't produce any money to buy my CD that she really, really wants. That's ok. Even if she is a fake, I still have the lady who has FBI drones buzzing around her house because she has top-secret information on the US Government GMO Conspiracy.

Almost as humorous was the response I got from musicians. Apparently the music community at large is doing very well out there and does not need help. Whew! I was worried! All for naught...

In all seriousness, I did make some sales, and I had a few jerks unsubscribe. Both results are positive in my book. However, I'd like an opinion as to whether my opening is condescending. It wasn't meant that way (duh!).

I get a LOT of emails from musicians asking me if I can help them in one way or another. And, Heaven knows, I need help sometimes too. So, let me start this email off by saying, "Hey, please don't be afraid to reach out to me!"

(Oh...by the way, if you're not an amateur, professional, or aspiring professional musician, now would be a good time to hit the delete button. But don't go away. I'll have more cool music and stuff for you next time! Hugs!)

So, here's the deal: for the next 72 hours I'm going to be selling my backing tracks AND charts from my album...

Ha ha - nice. I actually had one person who thought that all my emails were actually written just for her. She sent me this email about all this really deep stuff - it was waay awkward!

Anyhow, I'd consider maybe a couple minor tweaks to the language. I'd uncapitalize (is that a word?) 'LOT' and maybe change the line 'now would be a good time to hit the delete button.' It's not a problem with the literal meaning, but somehow it feels a little harsh. Maybe something like 'if you're not an amateur, professional, or aspiring professional musician, then stay tuned. I'll have more cool music and stuff for you next time!' - and maybe put that line in brackets at the very top of the email and indicate that it's addressed to musicians in the subject (which you may have done anyway).

Good stuff. It didn't strike me as harsh but I get Scott's points.

Speaking of weird emails... I just git my first email from a musician asking for help who included half naked pictures with the email. And they were veeeeery interesting. She even included pictures of her teenager daughter which was a bit awkward. I felt a bit like Bon Jovi though.

3 record deals, MTV, Rolling Stone, Woodstock, and it takes MMM to get someone to send me scantly dressed pics of herself. Man.
