Hiya John,
Hope you're well. Really enjoying getting stuck into the resources here!
I'm a solo artist, but will be launching a separate band project later this year. While I'm active on Facebook/Twitter for my solo stuff, we're going to be focusing mainly on Instagram for the band project.
I'm wondering whether it's possible to run Instagram ads for the band without having a separate Facebook business account. I assume if I run ads through my own Facebook ads manager, it would show as originating from my solo artist page, whereas I'd like the clickable name at the top of the ad to direct to the band's Instagram page.
As I understand it, you can boost posts from within Instagram, but is there a way to create ads that are shown to people who don't already follow the band? Or is Facebook ads manager the only way to do that?
Complete IG newbie here, so apologies for a pretty basic question!
Hey Tom,
You would need to create a Facebook Business account and add your Instagram page as an asset per these instructions: https://www.facebook.com/busin.....9598837059
Once you do that you can select in when creating an ad and limit your placements to Instagram Only and select your Instagram account on the ad page and it will work the way you want it to.
Creating a Facebook Business account is easy. Can I ask why you don't want to do so?

Hi John,
That's perfect, thanks a lot! I already have a Facebook business account for my solo project, so I will add the band Instagram account as an asset to that, and then I'm good to go!
The main reason we're not looking to create a separate Facebook account for the band is that we felt Instagram would be a better social platform for our likely demographic, and we wouldn't want to create a Facebook page unless we could regularly keep it "stocked up" with content. We may join later, actually, but in the early stages of building an audience I think we're going to focus our efforts on Instagram, as most of our content will be purely visual.
But it's very reassuring to know I can run the Instagram ads from my own Facebook account. Thank you!
Hey Tom,
I addressed your question in today's coaching call at the 08:35 minute mark. Listen to it here and let me know if you have any further questions.

Hey John, great answer in the coaching call, thanks a lot! That's really comprehensive, and also raised some possibilities I hadn't considered re having a relatively static presence on platforms with a lot of users. Our main worry was that we didn't want to set up a Facebook page unless we could be fairly active on it, but I can see now how one could approach it another way. Thanks for taking the time to engage so fully with the issue, and I hope you have a great weekend!
My pleasure Tom. Glad I was able to help. You have a great weekend as well!
