Hey John,
I've been delving into Lookalikes a bit, trying to get a sense for which ones perform well and which ones don't. I was doing pretty well with a lookalike of people that reached my LTO page, but then it kind of fell off after a week or two. The reason I used that audience was because I wasn't sure if I had enough actual customers to make a decent Lookalike there. So I was wondering, what's the minimum number of people we probably need in a customer list to make a functional Lookalike audience?
Hey Kevin,
I don't have a one size fits all answer for this. I've had lookalike audiences with thousands of customers that don't do well, and lookalike audiences with just a few hundred non buyer subs in it that has done well (but the opposite is more likely to work). It really just depends on all kinds of nearly-impossible-to-pinpoint variables, and possibly a little luck.
That said, I wouldn't hesitate to try a lookalike that has 100 or more people in it. If it doesn't work, you can just try again later once it's grown.
My opinion with lookalike audiences is to try everything and see what happens, with the knowledge that the more data you have, and the more that data reflects buying behavior, the better it's likely to do.
