A musician friend just showed me his new credit card swiper. It attaches to an Iphone, Android, or Ipad.

The fees are less than paypal. Hmmm...wondering when they'll be web friendly. I'd be happy to ditch paypal! 🙂

sweet.  yeah. ive been seeing a lot of folks using it.  Its a nice alternative to the CDBaby swiper.  Though, the 'holy shit what is that thing' factor of the antique swiper is worth a few sales at gigs.

I've seen some small businesses using it, and I just assumed that you had to buy the device and pay some major fee to set up an account through a bank etc.

So...yesterday, my friend offered to sell me a pair of in-ear monitors. I tried them out and liked them. So I jokingly said, "Will you take a credit card?" He pulled out his phone and swiper and said, "Sure!" I didn't realize that the device and app are free, and the fees are pretty minimal.

Anyway...just thought I'd mention it. I know there are folks on this forum who are even more technically challenged than me. I didn't know that was possible either, but I've talked to them! LOL!

This is awesome - makes me want to get a smart phone just to get someone to pay me with the swiper!

For those Canadians among us - or those who don't have an iphone/ipad - here's an alternative:

Very cool. I've seen Taxi Drivers use it so they can avoid paying the huge percentage that their parent companies charge teh drivers for credit cards. I didn't realize they were so cheap. Great tip!

This thing is pretty awesome.  Its so easy.  Ive been using the CDbaby swiper for years.  But the ease of this thing is great.  I always thought that accepting credit cards on my phone would be perceived as shady…

But at my shows this week I found people are totally up for it.  And it totally sealed the deal for the 'I dont have cash' folks.

Get this this thing. its great.

Hey Dean,

Mind if I use this as a subject for a blog post or podcast? want to do a quick phone interview (less than 10 minutes) to talk about your experience with this?
