Over the last month or so I've been seeing about a 19% conversion rate on people opt-ing in to my band's mailing list. Anyone have any thoughts as to whether that's good, bad, etc...?
Hi Ryan,
19% isn't bad for a 1st go round. Definitely room for improvement, though.
Have you tried split testing your squeeze page against a variation of itself to see if you get a consistent spike in conversions?
Another thing is to look at is how you are driving traffic. Some traffic sources may be converting better than others and it would be a good idea to take the ones that are not converting well and start directing them to a completely different squeeze page that is more tailored to the traffic source.
Also, if you run any pay per click ads, you might want to look into narrowing the targeting, while still driving them to your already existing squeeze page. You'll find that if you target a smaller group and send them to a page consistent to the targeting message, that the page will convert much higher for you.
If you target people too broadly, there's a strong possibility that you might get a lot of clicks (and pay for them), without getting the sign-ups, so it's best to take just a few keywords/ interests, create a message specifically for them and continue that message on a squeeze page. Then do it again with a different message for different keywords/interests and direct them to a totally different squeeze page.

Hey Ryan,
Steve kind of covered it. I agree with everything he said. 19% isn't terrible but it can definitely be improved. Feel free to share the links and I can give an opinion on places you might improve things.
