I need some feedback. I want to make sure I understand the purpose and structure of a pre promotion email. my intention is to send out an email to my list the week before my 3 day promotion. my promotion will be - buy any of my 3 albums and get this song Free. This is what I have so far:
I have a Ghost in my closet
Hey Aaron,
The idea behind sending out an email to people in advance of the 3 day promotion is just to make them aware that the promo is coming so that they are ready to buy when the email goes out with the offer.
That said, this is not something you absolutely have to do, and to be honest, it's not something I have personally doing lately. That lesson is a few years old now. Both approaches are fine.
The benefit of sending the email out in advance is that without it you find that some people aren't even aware of the promo until it's ending or over. The benefit of not having it is that it's one less email and you can strike while the interest is peaked and get those sales coming in.
I think what you have written here reads pretty well, but it's so complete that it sort of feels like it's missing the buy now link, in my opinion. When I would pepper the list before the promo I would try to tease them a bit more.
But I think what you have is pretty good, with either approach.

Sorry, when I said it's not something I have been doing lately, I was responding to the advance email. I still do the three day promo all the time.

I kind of felt the same way about almost needing a buy now link when I finished writing... If I go ahead with a teaser, I will thin it down a bit. Thanks so much. as always, I really appreciate the input =D
Anytime Aaron 🙂
