I thought you might get a kick out of item #4. It came to mind because I'm planning my next album, talking to my producer, and figuring out costs.
Unfortunately, my production costs are high because I'm not a one-man shop. Some of you other folks might be able to do it a lot cheaper, and still make a good profit. One song costs me about $1000 to produce, not including my time. I want to get $400 for wrting, charting, recording my horn, and laying down some rhythm scratch tracks. Might as well throw in 5 copies of the CD, shipping, other whatnot and make it an even $1500. But, if one person buys, it's like selling 50 CDs.
Yeah man. I think you should push this with at least one dedicated email. Limit it to only 5 customers for now, etc.
Point out that it's the perfect gift for someone you love, release it as a single and it will be a little piece of music history. Heck, you could sell the master for another $2000. (as an upsell of course 🙂
I know of an artist who funded his record by taking an add like this out in a London paper. $5000 a pop. No master, just a song written about the buyer.
Where is the email?
