Hi John,
I actually wanted to post this for the live coaching call on Wednesday, but when I try to click on the page for this week's call I keep getting the "Oops" message about not having access. I know there's a way around this, but I've forgotten what to do...
In any case, here is my question which I'd love you to address in the call if you can (I won't be there personally as it's super early for us here in Aus, but I do listen back!). If not, feel free to answer it here in the forum:
I recall you mentioning that you had used advertising to build a fan base specifically in NZ for the purposes of touring. I'm curious as to how you approached this as someone who is also in a country with a small population.
I send my Facebook ads to Australia, Canada, the UK and US, and generally speaking Australians only account for about 1% of sign-ups. Many of those are also in regional areas, so I haven't really built up a list in the major cities. However, I'd really love to build an audience in the major cities to support future touring. How do you recommend doing this considering the small population, if I wanted to just target people in the major cities in Australia? Would I use the same ad, but expand the audience ie instead of just targeting 1 artist's fans eg. Joni Mitchell fans, should I group several together so that the audience is large enough eg Joni Mitchell + Carole King + Tori Amos + Kate Bush + some smaller Australian artists etc? What is a reasonable spend for conversions considering I am limiting my audience and therefore my reach? Do you spend more on your ads just for people in NZ?
Thanks John!
Rachel
Hey Rachel,
Actually, there was a error in the settings on this weeks call, which is why you couldn't access it. So thanks for bringing that to my attention.
I have fixed it and I have also added your question to the que. I'll address it on the call this week. Thanks and talk soon,
