Hey everyone,
I found this really cool tool to track funnel performance called Hotjar. What it does is allow you to see how people are engaging with your content. Every time someone visits your site it records them and then you can watch the video. This allows you to see how people are engaging with your posts. For example, I noticed that nearly everyone only reads the headline and looks at the image on squeeze pages. Almost no one actually read the body copy which really showed me how important that headline and image is.
You can also have it track forms for booking and other things. This will show you how far someone went in filling out a form and which points they drop off.
You can also set up and track your entire funnel from the moment someone visits a squeeze page until they hit your lto. This lets you see your funnel conversion rates and where the drop off points are. It will save every recording from each visitor and compile them so you can see their entire journey through your funnel in one video.
You can also add a feedback tab on your website and blog posts and hopefully get some useful feedback.
The best part is it's completely free. There are many other cool features as well. If you are having trouble with your funnel engagement and want to dig in and see what your subscribers are doing on your site then you should get this tool.
Installation is easy. Just install the Hotjar plugin if you are using Wordpress and set up a free account.

Hey Nicholas,
I love this tool! Just got it up and installed on a few sites.
It's very similar to something I used a lot about 9 years ago called Clicktail. It was a big part of my early MMM testing and helped a lot But this is much better and I love the funnel tracking. Expect me to be sharing some info gleaned from this before long. Great share!

signed up very interesting. not sure what the scribbly lines mean though. there is an upgrade. like 85 bucks a month though. anyone know what you get with that as opposed to the free version?
Hi Mike,
What do you mean by scribly lines? Are you referring to what you see in the sign up form when someone enters their details? If so, that is just a setting that protects people's privacy. It would be a pretty big privacy violation if you were to record screen activity while knowing who the individual is that is taking the action. But as long as their identity is protected it's ok. So the system blocks out their email and name. Not sure if that's what you mean.
I see no need to upgrade. You can get the info you need with a free trial.

for example 1 person asked if i would be touring in their area and said they could help find venues if i needed it, well i need it lol. dont know how to reply to him though
Hi Mike,
Are you asking how to reply when someone leaves you a comment on your blog? To reply you simply click reply and then start typing whatever it is you want to say. It is best to be logged in so your official gravatar is pre-populated. Let me know if you mean something else.

hi John, im asking if one can reply to comments on hotjar. they are called polls i think. but there are many comments there. im not talking about emails or facebook posts or when they comment on my wordpress pages, i know how to reply to those
Hi Mike,
I don't use Hotjar for polls. Only to record activity. But if you have been using them and want to know about communicating with people responding, you'd need to contact Hotjar to see what's possible.
