OK, so I've gotten feedback for pretty much everything (except ad copy, which I haven't written yet). Might as well get feedback for my upsell page as well.

This is pretty much a rehash of John's upsell page, although I've tried to give it my own flare. I've certainly not put as much thought/work into this as the other pieces, so any advice is appreciated.

The page can be found here: https://onebadday.band/step-1/

One thing... Should there be images or something on this page? It feels a bit dry with only text, but maybe that's ok...

Anyway... Folk on.

Looks good to me. But yeah, I think an image would help. If you can put together a "big pil o' stuff" image that should round out the page and help entice the prospect.

Yeah, sounds good. I'll come up with something like that.

One thought. Have you tried or thought about using a countdown timer on the upsell page? For like 20 minutes, just to create even more urgency? Not that it would matter all that much, since the page is only available once, but I've seen it on sites I've done business with (AppSumo, most notably), and thought it might make the upsell page pop a bit more, if nothing else.

Thoughts?

You know, I haven't. But that is something many people do in other markets and would probably boost sales a little. My only concern there is that it would take away by ability to go back and market the upsell to them through an automated upsell funnel. A lot of musicians report success selling more upsells later, and I suspect you would get better results with that approach. If I said it was a one time offer then it really needs to be a one time offer and you would lose out on selling down the track.

Yeah, I get that, but then maybe just don't say it's a one time offer. The timer can be there, and maybe I could say that once it reaches zero, the offer will be gone, but don't say "gone for good". If I then do a promotion for the upsell, I'll just not target anybody who has seen the upsell page for the past 2-3 months. That way, it's not like I'm lying about anything.

I've bought several products from AppSumo, and they always offer the same crosssell (email templates) at checkout, with the same countdown timer (or at least they used to). Never bothered me that I got the same offer every time.

I don't know. I think with the right copy it could work. But you're right, it can't be called a "one time only" offer.

I hear you there, and I can agree that there might be a way to do it tastefully. I have taken offers away and brought them back. For example, I am planning on opening the doors to the copywriting workshop again soon, for just a few days. But I did not know if I would ever do that when I took it down, and I usually don't re-open offers like that. But I guess I draw a distinction between automating that kind of thing (when you clearly know full well what you plan to do) and deciding in real time to change your mind later. But the line is thin for sure. I think so long as you have integrity and stick by your own code, and be consistent with your words, you can work it the way you are describing. I would only add that building a tribe around music is very different than building a tribe around internet marketing products. By I do know where you are coming from.

Absolutely. Marketing and music are very different beasts. Maybe it's not such a hot idea. At least I should get a feel for the conversions the upsell page gets without it, and then maybe try it after a while.

I love that you're offering the Copywriting workshop again. I'll recommend it to everybody. I've told you before how much it did for me.

And of course, if you want to use any communication between us so far for your marketing (as I know I've gushed about this a whole lot) or if you want something new from me, feel free to use whatever or ask me for something. I think every indie musician should do that workshop. It's worth ten times what you charge.

Hey, thanks very much for that offer. I could use a testimonial if you don't mind? If you feel like sending something new to me via email, that would be amazing. Just keep in mind that the more specific the better, when it comes to testimonials.

Thanks again. That will really help. FYI, the re-release will not be doing live calls. That part of the workshop is now "gone for good". Holy crap that was a lot of work.

But the coaching call recordings will be there for new members. I only say this in case you were planning o putting your emphasis on that aspect of things.

Thanks again.

Haha, I don't blame you! Just watching those things live was a commitment!

I'll definitely shoot you an email. When do you need it? If not right away, maybe it would be better to have some results in, since it looks like I can start driving traffic to my funnel within a couple of days. If you need it soon, no worries, I'll get on it tomorrow.5

Hey Eyvi,

My hope is to send out an email the day after tomorrow. So I would need it today or tomorrow. That said, I planned on doing it last week. So you never know. If you're able to send something that would be great. If you get more specific results down the line you can always send me another one. I really only need a few sentences.

But no pressure at all.

BTW - I'm sure this is karma. The message I read immediately after yours was from WooCommerce. Somebody who sponsored my Crowdfunding campaign was downloading their digital copy of the album, which took them to my upsell page, and I sold my first membership. Woohoo!

All my demos, a lot of live recordings (video and audio), exclusive live streams, 50% discounts off abums and 20% off merch, and access to a community, almost like our own mini social media site. I plan on using that platform for exclusive insights into tours, recording, songwriting and stuff. Also some picture galleries, lyrics archives and stuff.

Awesome. I'm working on my own blueprint for membership sites right now. Just curious what others are doing.

Thanks.

Cool. I'm basically putting this together as we speak. I've already sold a few (had a few orders for that during my crowdfunding - feel awful that I haven't delivered that yet, so got to hurry), and I'm going to get a few friends to get in there to populate it a bit and test things out. I'm using Buddypress to create a kind of a social media thing within it. Hoping it'll be a fun little community. Still kicking the tires a bit, but I think it's coming together.

I was basically there, but as you know I've been moving to a new website, so the order took me by surprise. I've written the guy and hope he understands. Should have the member's area ready by tomorrow.

I'm really happy about this, too, cause it's a kind of a proof of concept. So this guy used a "download code", which is actually a 100% discount coupon for my WooCommerce store that gets you a free digital copy of the album. I include a unique code with each physical copy. And once you go through the "checkout" (without paying anything, obviously, you've already paid) you get the upsell. So this guy didn't actually have his wallet out, but he still went for the upsell, which was kind of cool. Not expecting a lot of conversions this way, but I have one!
