Hey John,

I LOVE an idea you mentioned last week on the call:
Having a membership site open to the public at all times for 79 bucks a year. So punk rock.

But THEN putting it on sale for 29.95 occasionally - Like for an upsell when someone buys an album.
I just think that's so dope to price it at 79 bucks initially.

Because it really slams home the point of how much value is contained within the members area. So when it comes time to put it on sale or upsell it, there’s extra pressure on the buyer to snag it while it’s offered this one-time-ONLY... but ALSO at 29.95, down from 79!

But how would you state both of those one time offer's clearly without coming off as confusing? Will you please give a short example of the kind of upsell copy you’d need to slam home both points clearly:
  1. the one time only offer
  2. and the discount

    Thank you John! -Bri

Glad you liked the idea 🙂

Sorry, I'm not clear what you mean by "both of those one time offers". Are you asking how to offer the membership site as an upsell or something else?

I just re-read my question and it's pretty confusing the way i asked it.
I think i was sleep deprived when i wrote it lol

The answer just dawned on me:

When they buy an album they're presented with an opportunity to purchase the membership site, which is normally 79 bucks a year, for just 29.95 a year. But that discounted offer expires as soon as they close the page. Just like a normal upsell.

I think I was making the scenario way too complicated in my head - Please scratch this question from the recordLaugh

Cool. Yes, it would be just like a normal upsell. However, I don't use the one time offer setting to make it go away after one visit. I choose my words carefully to state that it's a special offer than doesn't exist anywhere else and they can lock in the price if they sign up now. But I try to avoid anything like "this will expire as soon as you leave the page". Just because some people do come back. But it's not a huge factor.

You also don't need to do such a huge price difference. It can help compel people, but it also makes it harder to sell at full price. Which you would want to do if you ever set up a funnel just for the membership site. I was more trying to suggest a range in price between $29.95 and $79.95 then as a rule for the price difference between the normal retail offer and an upsell. But if you only plan to sell it through special promotions and upsells, then a price differential like that might be a great idea.
