I recently redesigned my site and would like to get some honest feedback, and also some opinions about my music. I have three releases, each quite different from the other, and I need some opinions of what it sounds similar to. It's all Jewish music, which is basically a non-existent niche in the secular world, except for klezmer, which is somewhat known. The site is http://rebshaya.com
Thanks

Hi Reba,
While I think the site looks good, I think there is a bit too much going on for an entry level landing page. Most of us here are using squeeze pages and are focusing on lead generation. Once we have a subscriber we then forward them to a content rich site like yours. So for existing fans I think it's good. For cold traffic I think you'd be better served with a simple squeeze page with a single and direct offer.
I also think some supporting copy that walked a person through what you wanted them to do might help as well. When I first landed on the site my impression was... This looks good, but what do I do next.
Just one person's opinion and I'm purely speaking from a "sales" perspective.

Hi Reb,
This is just a quick reply. I don't have time to look too in depth at your site.
I like the CD cover designs which look good on the site. It's very colorful. I think the background might look better in blue.
I think the site has too much on it to read. It's hard to know where to focus. The banner pictures rotate too quickly for me to read. Your facebook and twitter links don't go to facebook and twitter.
I love the music and you have a great niche to work with.
Hi Reb,
After building my own site not to long ago, I certainly appreciate how much work, time, and expense went into your site! That being said, I was thinking that the banners went a bit to fast also, until I realized that clicking on one would pause on that banner, with the option of clicking on the next banner. That was a nice touch.
Unless I missed it, I would suggest some sort of a blog where you can add new content on a regular basis to keep people coming back. That was a big drawback with my old site. The only thing that ever changed was my calendar page, and once in a while someone would leave a new post on my comment page. Other than that, once fans had seen my site, there really wasn't any reason for them to come back.
On my new site I have a blog on my home page where I try to post new content fairly often (OK…I admit, I slacked off a bit this past month!) One thing I blog about is recent gigs and how much fun I had. I have some fans that live too far away to see me very often, and this helps to make them feel included, and keeps thier interest up. I also want to start a video blog page where I can make short informal videos where I just talk to my fans, maybe share a new song I'm working on……anything that will keep them interested and wanting to come back to see what is new. I think the key point is to have the new content one of the first things visitors see when they return to your site.
Also, if it was me, I would move the invitation to join your mailing list closer to the top of the page where it would be hard to miss. There is a lot of info on your home page and it might be too easy for a reader to get distracted before they sign up.
Hope this didn't sound too critical, overall it's really a pretty nice site!
What would a jam session with Gordon Lightfoot, Collective Soul, and Damien Rice sound like?
Check out Greg Parke and you’ll have a pretty good idea!
