Hey guys! So I’m in the process of fine tuning everything in my funnel and honing in on my brand as my squeeze page has been converting decently but I haven’t been seeing sales.
Ive just finished a new song and music video, as well as a video blog (to use as my “blog post of a lifetime”). These will be part of the content I give out in my new funnel.
My question for now is, which artists do you think I should target/ sound like, and do you think my current USP is good (or suggestions if you think it could be better). Any other general suggestions on improving my funnel/ targeting/ sales/ brand are welcome too. Thank you so so much!!!
Current USP:
““A surreal artist who creates an alternate reality through his dreamlike audio, absurd humor and heartfelt philosophy.”
Song/ Music Video:
Blog Post Video:
Squeeze Page:
Hey Ben,
I think this all looks pretty good. At least as a starting place.
The music is consistent with what you described in your USP and your video made me chuckle when you "thought I should know that you won Easter Egg competitions when you were younger".
The only thought I had about your USP was that you mention "heartfelt philosophy" but say nothing about what the philosophy is, which makes the statement irrelevant. Both Gandhi and Hitler had heartfelt philosophies, but needless to say, the value and impact of those philosophies are dramatically different. So if your philosophy is part of your unique selling proposition, then O need to know what that philosophy is, and it needs to be present in your musical experience and/or brand. But otherwise it's all pretty on point.
In terms of targeting, I heard a touch of Jameriquie in there, but he is much more dance/pop and not nearly as surreal.
One artist you reminded me a little of was Momus: https://www.youtube.com/c/momasu/videos - You guys are different but he has a surreal dreamy thing as well. He's likely too small to target but you might be able to do some digging on Spotify for larger similar artists. https://www.youtube.com/c/momasu/videos
Because your music is not completely in my wheelhouse I don't have many specific recommendations. But I'd start going down that path of starting with artists you think you are sort of similar to and digging for larger/similar artists and build a list of 10 or so options and then just test until you strike upon something.

Sounds good John! I’ll consider the philosophy point and look into the artists you recommended and also build lists of related artists. Thank you so so much for taking the time to check out my stuff and give feedback! I really appreciate it 🙂
