Hi,
My name is Darrell and I've been a member of the IC for about three months b and this is my first post. I've been finishing up an album for DeLana Stevens And The Beggar Saints which is now complete and just purchased the MMM and getting started on everything. For a quick but of background, we had a deal on an indie and released a country album a few years back and once the funds ran out, we went back to writing and pitching for a new deal. Long story short, DeLana in no way fits the cookie cutter country mold and honestly, are hearts and writing were much more in the rock vein and we started focusing completely on that about a year ago. I've loved reading everyone's posts and getting so great info from the forum since I joined and love the community feel it has. I'm looking forward to being a part of it. If some of you would care to hear some of our tunes, I would love to get feedback from you as to what artists come to mind from what you hear so I can better target keywords for articles, ads, etc. Of course, we know the artists WE think it may sound similar to but, it helps a lot to hear from people who are not married to our songs the way we are as I'm sure you can all relate to. LOL! I'm including a link below with four songs and the player should auto start when you go to the page. Again, I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you and being a part of the forum. Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.
Darrell
Hey Darrell, good to see you in the forum. Keep the posts coming. Nice to have more roots musicians here. I'm a straddling the line of country and rock myself.
I checked out all the tracks and while the vocals have a country feel and there is a roots quality to the music, it definitely does not immediately strike me as country. It actually sounds a bit like a heavier Melissa Etheridge. That may not be what you were going for but that's how it struck my ear, and I'd bet fans of hers would respond to your stuff as well. There were hints of bands like Raging Slab in there as well (Weird dated reference). There are probably more appropriate comparisons but there aren't many artists in my record collection that are still alive so I'm probably not the most "current" person to ask
Thanks again for posting and for sharing your stuff. Hope to see you in the forum more often.

John,
Thanks for the reply and the feedback. Funny thing is, as I've been writing the copy for the squeeze page, Melissa Etheridge is one of four artists that I mentioned in the copy. Glad to know someone else hears that as well so I'm not way off point. I remember Raging Slab and haven't heard that name in years!! I was in LA for seven years and part of that time, I can remember everyone being high on them and thinking they were really close to breaking. I pulled them up on youtube after reading your reply and it brought back memories! LOL! Thanks again for your response. I've pretty much finished the squeeze page and plan on putting it up soon and would love to get input on that as well when I do. I've watched the "post order sales funnel" a couple of times and trying to wrap my head around what to setup to sell. We have this new CD and also the country CD that I mentioned in the original post, as well as some tracks that were never released. Decciding what to offer for sale ex: offers A,B,C,D etc. I won't have a problem with. On the other hand, setting them all up with the different pages and the payment methods ( paypal etc.) is a little intimidating. Hoping it won't be a major pain and also hoping to gain some knowledge from you and others that have done it. Thanks again man!
Darrell
Sounds good Darrell. We're hear and happy to offer all the feedback you need as you go through it all. Now I'm off to go dig up those old Raging Slab cassettes. Good times.
