This was recently discussed in a Record Release Formula coaching session and I thought I'd post it here as well.
One thing you might consider to generate lists on the back of other artists tours and live events is to create a pseudo download card/ flyer and pass it out to people waiting in line to see a similar artist play live.
You simply create a download card or flyer that makes a bold claim about your music and how someone can get some of it for free. Then include a web address and/or a QR code that takes people to a dedicated squeeze page with slightly customized language that is appropriate for the situation. Then pass them out to people waiting in line. Those people have time to kill and many will go to the web page and sign up. One artist reported bringing in subscribers for about $1 per subscriber after printing costs.
Just thought I'd share the info.
