Ok... I'm an old-timer... and this *has* to be going through the minds of those of us who have been around the block...

With the changes in Facebook, and the hassle I keep hearing about the problems bidding on conversions (inaccurate counting, IOS 14, and all that crapola), is it a bad idea to bid on clicks, and then evaluate our conversions through Aweber? I feel like my brain is going to explode with all the Facebook changes.

Why not get the best CPC you can, and then evaluate in Aweber? Am I wrong?

Hey Charley, been a while. Good to see you pop back up in the forum.

While the iOS changes have caused some issues, I think there is more fear mongering going on than anything else. At least in our space. These changes have had a far bigger impact on huge brands, app developers, etc. The type of marketing we do means that we control most of the data and can easily pass it back to Facebook regardless of iOS 14. So the impacts have really been minimal, if anything at all for most of us. At least so far.

The biggest thing I have seen is lower/slower than usual conversion tracking. But it hasn't been that significant.

I would not target by click. The algorithm is too powerful and you will get people likely to click but not necessarily convert. I have seen campaigns getting just a 1- 2% conversion rate jump up to 30% just by switching from clicks to conversions. Stay the course and just deal with the fact that conversion totals might be a bit liter than they actually are. Just make sure you are getting more than an average of 5 per day and you'll be fine.

Ok. Thank you so much for that! I'm relieved, actually.

Cool. Happy to help. It's a bigger deal for Facebook than it is for us. They just lost a lot of control and apple gained a bunch.
