Hi John,

Quick question on double opt-in process through Aweber.

I set it up and it feels like there are a lot of steps for a new prospect to go through where they could abandon or get lost at any moment. Let me know if these steps are right. Attached pic for each step.

  1. Opt-in on squeeze page
  2. Land on custom thank-you page 1 that directs them to go and check their email to confirm
  3. Check email and click Confirm (double opt-in complete)
  4. When they click Confirm > land on custom thank you page 2 that asks them to check their email again for their download
  5. Check email to click “download music” button (This is where aweber tracks opens and click rate of music delivery)
  6. Land on download page where they can stream or download tracks

Is that right? Do I have too many steps in there?

In step 4, do you have a custom thank you page or use the default aweber page for the double opt-in confirmation?

Many thanks,

Mijo

Hi Mijo,

With confirmed opt in on, that is correct, aside from #6. You can add a link like that but the music is first offered as a download from the email itself, so no extra step is required.

While that sounds like a lot, it's really not. The user enters there info and gets automatically redirect to a page that tells them to check there inbox (one click), then once they click the link in their email a new email is pretty instantly generated so they get it while still in their inbox and that email delivers the tracks (two clicks in the same place). So it all happens pretty instantly and I have never had any problems with the process. That said, with confirmed opt in off it is certainly simpler. But you risk getting lower quality leads.
