I just watched a training session from FB showing their Lead Ads functionality.
Basically it looks like click throughs would hit a FB generated type of squeeze page within the app. Benefits of this would be it is optimized for mobile, would be a seamless experience within the app instead of taking the user out to some other page, as well as that it can pre populate email and other fields with the users FB profile data, all making it for a more seamless sign up process. I would think this would potentially increase conversion rates. (and yes it does integrate with auto responders) I think this is a new feature since this is the first I'm hearing about it. Have you had a chance to try this yet? If it does work it could be somewhat of a game changer for FB ads. Would love to get your take on it.
Hi David,
A few weeks ago I ran through setting one up and at the end they ask you to create a form. However this form isn't your Aweber form, but appears to be a form on Facebook.
I would think you'd have to manually add your new contact to Aweber manually, which isn't ideal. However I didn't actually test one to see it through, so I don't know how the new lead is handled at all.
From the training they explained that it does integrate with aWeber Mailchimp etc. So you don't need to manually import the leads. When the user signed up it would immediately go to your autoresponder and your first email would trigger the same as a squeeze page. They actually explained this as a reason to set up the integration because having that first email go out as soon as they sign up increases conversions. but I have yet to try one. Maybe I'll try one this weekend. But I'm anxious to see if John or anyone else has any thoughts on it.
OK I just started a test ad. You can integrate but you have to purchase a $20 a month Zapier integration subscription https://zapier.com/pricing/ Heres the integration instructions https://www.facebook.com/busin.....ntegration
And here is the link to manually pull the leads https://www.facebook.com/busin.....22303376
It's kind of annoying that you have to purchase a separate integration tool but I'll test it first and if I'm getting real traffic I'll purchase and set up the integration.
I tested the form and it does seem pretty slick. It just has a pop up with your little Ad and it is very cool that the email is pre populated so they don't even have to type, they just have to Click. That being said I would think this would increase conversions but well see. I'll run a test and see. If it works decent its a game changer.
That sounds really interesting.
Let us know how it goes.

Hey David,
Sorry for chiming in so late. I've been offline for a few days working on some new training videos.
I was very excited about Lead Ads when FB first announced it. I wrote up a blog post on MMM about them almost a year a go or so. But when they finally came out I had a few concerns. My biggest concern was the scary terms and conditions. This was a few months ago so it's possible it's changed, but it sounded very easy to accidentally violate them. The integration issues you mentioned were also a drawback.
My biggest concern though, was that I wasn't hearing a lot of success stories from the FB Ad community. It made me come to a - perhaps premature - conclusion that without the supporting copy and images on a squeeze page, that the Lead Ads wouldn't convert as well. But it's been on my list to experiment with for a while now. Happy to see that you are. Definitely curious to hear how they go for you.

I just had one up for a day so far. On the good side, even though the ad is exactly the same as my sqeeze page ads for some reason it was getting a much higher ctr of about 5%. On the bad side I wasn't getting any conversions. But this was on a Sat which is not the best day for starting an ad. So I tweaked the pop up Ad copy a little and restarted for Monday.
Hi David,
I'm really interested in seeing how it goes today.
Let us all know how you make out.
