Hi everyone!

I have been using the same ad account on Fb for 2 years, marketing nothing but the music MMM-style. All was fine until March 2020 when it suddenly got disabled for 'violating ad policies'. which obviously had never been violated.

I appealed it and it got re-enabled in 2 days.

Next, on 8th July it happened again, I appealed and got the regular 3 declines by the bot, and then it got re-enabled, again with an automatic message, no humans present... only to be disabled back in 2 day. Then in 2 days re-emnalbed again (after appeal).

then this Sunday it was disabled again and my appeal is still hanging there.

All this time I have been bugging the live support through chat, but there is nothing substantive that they can say.

Anyone had anything similar an dhow do you deal with it? John, you've been there for ages, Im sure you have encountered smth similar?

Hey Alexander,

In all of the years I've been doing this I have never had my FB account disabled.

I may be way off, but I suspect it has something to do with you being in Russia, especially with the elections coming up in the US. They probably have some new script in place to scan and freeze Russian accounts if they violate a policy and you are inadvertently tripping that wire. What is the policy violation they site?

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective? The account is actually registered onto Ukraine, because Russia charges a 20% VAT on all FB ads which is a no-go 🙂 The website is hosted in Amsterdam with a US hosting company. But of course I have Russian IPs all the time.

The 'policy violations' are obviously a stupid AI bug, it reads like this:

Unacceptable Business Practices Policy - We don't allow ads that promote products, services, schemes or offers using deceptive or misleading practices, including those meant to mislead or scam people out of money or personal information (ex: products that boost Facebook or Instagram likes, etc.).

In any case I have already opened a new account which is registered in the US with all the needed legit details.

But I seriously doubt it has anything to do with Russia because thousands of people are doing ads from here and its a big market for FB and especially IG.

In all my countless messages with support, they told me only one valuable piece of info - it might be because the billing for that ad acc often failed (I dont always have the money in the bank when they are billing me), but it was always paid in a few days. What do you think?

I can't imagine it's billing related if you pay within short order. Failed billing attempts are really common for every business.

I now think it's just a bug, like you mentioned. @kevingoetz sent me a message a few hours after the post saying he had the same thing happen. He has since gotten his back up. But it was really odd that you both had it happen and are both metal bands. It's got to be a weird algorithmic bug. You might contact Kevin to see how he got his account back up and running.

Looks like a bug. Every time I make changes to a certain ad (retargeting for purchases), the ad account is blown away. I then contact support through their chat and they restore it, but nothing really changes.

Here is their latest answer:

Hi Alexander.

This is Emmy from Facebook Concierge Support. I hope you are doing well and healthy.

We are pleases to inform you that your Ad Account is reenabled.

Your ad may have been inadvertently disapproved due to the system automation we have in place to increase security to the platform. Nonetheless, with the manual review that I submitted on your behalf, our Internal Team has determined it complies with our policies. You may check your Ads Manager to confirm that they are already in active. Please note that any time you edit your Ads, it is reviewed carefully to make sure that it is still Policy Compliant. This may result in unexpected or repeated disapproval due to the multi-level nature of the review process. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

G;ad to hear it and glad you got it restored. So chat support still worked for you even though the account was shut down? Based on others I've spoken with, my understanding was that the chat support option always disappeared when an account was shut down. Glad to hear that wasn't the case for you and that all is going well.
