I'm just starting some new facebook ads, and wanted to check a couple of things with you, as I haven't done it for a while and I wanted to check in to see what you do these days.
I wanted to ask what you do these days re: manual placement vs automatic placements? Does it depend a little on how much money you're putting in ? Are you getting any good results from instagram these days?
What do you do these days re: the attribution setting ? I used to go for '1 day after clicking ad'. Do you start with that and then change it to 7 days if you notice that people are taking a few days to confirm, so fb optimises for those kinds of people?
Lastly I just wanted to check that it still works to use lookalike audiences that were created last year, without any issues, since all the changes this year?

It always depends on the type of campaign and the audience. For local and retargeting ads I tend to do automatic placements. For bigger lead gen ads I tend to just do FB and Instagram feeds and stories. Yes, quite often Instagram gets me affordable leads. Facebook still performance best for me though, in most instances.

Typically 1 day.
Lastly I just wanted to check that it still works to use lookalike audiences that were created last year, without any issues, since all the changes this year?
It depends what the lookalike is based on. If it's based on something dynamic like people who landed on a page within the last 180 days, then it will change dramatically. If based on a list, it should still be fine.
