Hi John, I'm a little concerned about some of the stats showing up on my funnel support Ads.. maybe you could provide some insight as to what may be occuring?

As per the 4.0 Funnel Support set up.. I've got 4 ad sets set up.. the first one is set up to be served to the people who have signed up to my mailing list but haven't visited Blog #1 post... the 2nd to the ones that have been on Blog #1 but not Blog #2 etc..

What I'm finding odd is that the first Ad Set is showing a Frequency of 7.89 (reach of 79 vs 623 impressions) .. and then Ad Set # 2 drops right down to a Frequency of 1 (reach of 2 vs 2 impressions).. see screenshot below:

Screen CaptureImage Enlarger

These funnel support ads have been running for just over two weeks.. and as of this post 31 people have gone through the full series without a purchase..

Is there anything odd about these results so far? .. the frequency of Step 1? .. cost of traffic on step 1?

These are the settings I have for Ad Set #1

Ad Set #1 (Settings)

Traffic: Website

Budget & Schedule: Daily Budget $5

Audience:

Custom Audiences: INCLUDES people who have visited my "thanks" page (after signing up).. EXCLUDES people who have visited my Blog #1 post or OR people who visited my "step 1" page (after purchasing) => In the past 10 days

Locations: Worldwide

Age: 18 - 65+

Placement: Edit Placements (all platforms selected) *should this have been set to Automatic (even though all platforms selected)?

Optimization & Delivery: Link Clicks / Link Click (CPC)

Other Comments/Notes:

Ad Set #2 is using the same settings as above with the exception of the custom audience targeting: INCLUDES people who have visited my "Blog #1" page .. EXCLUDES people who have visited my "Blog #2" post or OR people who visited my "step 1" page (after purchasing) => In the past 10 days

Hey Dino,

That's basically because you have too few people in your funnel. You can see that your CTR is actually pretty good. But you are bidding $5/day on what looks to be less than 100 people. So your ad is getting served over and over again.

You can either drop it to $1/day. I know you said you had an issue doing that but I just tested it yesterday and had no problems running less than $5/day.

Or you can just hold off on these for a little while until you get more people in your funnel. In the meantime you could turn on a single retargeting ad that just takes all web traffic to your site and shows them an ad for the sales page. I've had luck with that as well.

As a general rule, the max bid/audience ratio that is ever ideal is $1/1000 people in the audience.

Thanks again John.. I've just gone in and tried to change the budget but I keep getting that message saying the minimum must be $5.. I even tried setting up a fresh campaign from scratch and still got the $5 minimum error message when I tried a lower amount.. guess I'll just have to monitor the spend to see how it all goes.. maybe I could reduce the period from 10 days to 7 days? .. I mainly concerned about people seeing the add for this post too many times..

I still don't get why Ad Set #1 is showing a Frequency of 8.81 (reach of 85 vs 749 impressions) .. whilst Ad Set # 2 (& #3) drop right down to a Frequency of 1 (reach of 3 vs 3 impressions).. that just doesn't seem right with the same traffic flowing through the funnel.. can you explain what could be happening here?

It does look a bit odd. The only thing I can guess is that you have so few people in the other audiences right now that they haven't had a chance to run up like the other. Whatever the reason, it ultimately comes down to the algorithm. Something the algorithm has detected is causing it to distribute that way. But I get what you mean.

You could try Frequency capping. To be honest, I haven't used it before but it might make sense for you.

Hey that sounds like a perfect solution John.. awesome.. thx for that gr8 tip! I have just changed my settings to "Unique Daily Reach" for that particular Ad Set which will cap the frequency upto once per day.. I'm good with that over a 10 day period.. be interested to see how the metrics change over the coming weeks.. thx again for that gr8 input! :~)

Sounds good. But just to be clear... I would not change the settings. You need to start a brand new duplicate campaign. That ad is already shot and the quality score will carry over.

Ahh.. I currently have the 4 different Ad sets within my Funnel Campaign.. do I need to create a whole new campaign .. or would a new Ad Set within the same campaign be OK?

Ah, I forgot that this was part of a more complex ad set. A new ad set should be fine.
