How would you link several sight back to one particular sight to build better search engine positioning ?
You quoted "Once your video goes live, link back to it from as many sites as you can. Facebook, Twitter, your own website, free blogs, feeder sites like squidoo, blogger, etc. Don't build these links too fast, just a couple each day is ideal, and try to keep doing this for a few weeks. If you see the video climbing in the search engines for that keyword, keep doing it (literally forever). If you don't see any movement you might just move on to another site."

Here's how search engine optimization works in a nutshell.
1. The search engines see a link from one site to another as a "vote".
2. The search engines look at the quality of the site that is linking to your site and gives more value to certain "votes".
3. The search engines look at the language that is used in the link itself and assign relevance to your site based on what that language is. For example, search the word "click here" in Google. Adobe comes up as #1 purely because so many sites say click here to download adobe.
4. Then the search engines look at the pattern in which links are built to your site. If it looks unnatural, the links may be disqualified or penalized. The SERPS don't like you trying to game the algorithm.
5. The search engines are looking at other factors as well such as bounce rate, time spend on your site, etc. But that comes down to quality.
6. They are also looking at on page factors as well such as keyword placement and density.
To build links you simply create content on free sites that allow you to link back to your page. If you were trying to get a video to rank for "funny cat video" or whatever... you would have the words "funny cat video" in your video title and description, and then you would go out and try and post content on other sites about cats (relevancy of the site linking back is also a factor), and link back with the anchor text "funny cat video".
To make it look natural you should vary up the anchor text (link text) and not build too many links too fast. Although, if you are linking to youtube, the speed of your link building is not much of a factor.
Just a few of the many free ways you can build backlinks include:
Article directories
wordpress
blogger blogs
forum sigs
squidoo
hubpages
blog comments
Rss Feed submission
Link directory submissions
Video sites
Social media sites
Tumbler
