Hi John,
Thanks for your reply to the other thread :).
I'm thinking I might try a lookalike audience from my existing subs, after having watched the visemenn tutorial part 2. I just wanted to check though whether you would generally seperate lookalike audiences into different countries, or whether that was just because for visemenn, you thought one would perform better than the other ? ( I think the UK was doing better for them generally?)
Also, I noticed that you mentioned uploading new subs every now and then for a 'subs lookalike audience' - so that kind of lookalike audience doesn't update automatically as it does with the video view approach where fb updates the lookalike audience as it goes along right?
I'm going to watch the video lookalike tutorial from a while back assuming all the info is still relevant? Are there any other tutorials I should watch around lookalike audiences? I'm going to copy what you did for visemenn for the subs lookalikes, so maybe I have all the info I need there.
Thanks :).
Karen
Hi Karen!
If you have a "subscriber" conversion set up (people who have visited your thank you page), then you can make a lookalike audience based on those conversions over the past 180 days. And this lookalike audience will be self-updating.
Hi Karen,
I do normally separate lookalike audiences out by country and add each one into it;s own ad set.
You can also do what Alexander suggested, however after the maximum number of days (I believe it's 180) you will lose older subscribers. That may be ok, but it also may change your lookalike audience in a way that is not optimal. I often do both and then combine them into one saved audience. That way I only need to upload new subscribers every few months as the landing age cookie takes care of those that I haven;'t uploaded.

Thanks for this John. Good to know. I've made my 1 minute video now (combination of music video and me chatting about messages in bottles on my boat !) so going to start experimenting with ads again soon!

Awesome. Feel free to post it here. Good luck!

Thanks John I guess once I've put the video on my facebook account I can send you a link- I'd be interested to see what you think, alongside seeing how it goes down out there !
Sounds good. Cheers.

Hey John,
I'm not entirely sure how to send you a link to my video, which isn't live yet. I've put it in my ads manager- this is the link from my search box but I doubt this will work for you. I can send you my login details for fb via email? I'd be interested to see what gut feelings you have about it.

Hi Karen,
Steve here. John is traveling so I wanted to let you know that I tired your link, but unfortunately all it does is take me to my own ad manager and nothing ever populates on the page.
So unfortunately we're not going to be able to view it and give you any feedback this way.
Hey Karen,
Sorry I missed this. There is been some change in the way the forum works that has caused any posts that Steve replies to, to get marked as read. So I just discovered that I missed a few. My apologies. We've spoken via email so this is sussed at this stage. Cheers.
